Anna Faris reveals how getting 'distracted' from reality helped her cope with losing her home in LA fires

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Anna Faris is finding gratitude after experiencing loss.

The 'Scary Movie' actress was among the more than 80,000 people displaced by the wildfires that devastated the Los Angeles area in January.

Her home was destroyed, but she and her family were unharmed.

Anna Faris says mental distraction helped her after fire

Shortly after, Anna Faris began working on a new project, which she found to be a much-needed distraction.

"We shot the campaign about a week after we lost our house in the Palisades," Faris, 48, told People.

"It was amazing to have the mental distraction of shooting the campaign and getting to laugh. Be just completely distracted from the jarring reality," she added.

She teamed up with a popular bathroom cleaning brand to showcase its latest product, even coming up with a fun campaign video for it.

Anna Faris shares gratitude for friends and new movie

Despite the tough circumstances, Anna Faris found the experience to be uplifting.

"I'm aware of how fortunate we are. But it was, and still kind of continues to be a little bit surreal, so I'm really grateful. It felt like they just had my back," Anna Faris added.

Besides this, Faris has been filming her upcoming comedy 'Spa Weekend' alongside Isla Fisher and Leslie Mann.

"It's been so important to me, especially at this time of life. I'm immensely grateful that they're dear friends that make me laugh all day long," she said.

"I have high hopes for the movie, I think it's going to be hysterical," Faris said.

Anna Faris leans on 'down-to-earth' son Jack for support

Meanwhile, in an interview with US Weekly, Anna Faris revealed that after losing her home, she found support in her son Jack, 12.

"He’s also handled the situation with the fires well, too," Faris said, adding "I really appreciate that."

The actress described Jack as "awesome," adding, "For a kid who’s been raised in Hollywood, he’s incredibly down-to-earth and practical."

Faris shares Jack with her ex-husband Chris Pratt, to whom she was married from 2009 to 2018. She later married Michael Barrett in 2021.

Both Faris and Pratt, 45, evacuated their respective Pacific Palisades neighborhoods as the fires spread, although Pratts house survived the fire, Faris wasn't that lucky. 

Pratt later shared his experience in an Instagram video, saying, "It’s truly devastating, as you know. Silver lining is my house was saved but, at the same time, so many people’s houses were burned around us and the community’s gone."

"My son’s school is gone. My son’s mom’s house burned down," Pratt added.

Faris reflected on the situation, telling Us Weekly, "It’s surreal and has been tough, [but] we feel fortunate because we’re safe. I’m really grateful to be working."
