WASHINGTON, DC: The District of Columbia Court of Appeals temporarily suspended Donald Trump's former lawyer, John Eastman, from practicing law in DC, reported The Hill.

DC canceled the White House hopeful's ex-attorney's law license on Friday, May 3, in light of the California State Bar Court's similar order in March.

Anna Blackburne-Rigsby, chief judge of the DC Court of Appeals, said in the order that the suspension was on an interim basis, pending the final disposition of the proceedings in the California court.

In late March, State Bar Court Judge Yvette D Roland's ruling led to the disbarment of Eastman due to his "false and misleading statements" regarding the 2020 election fraud in support of Trump.

California Judge Roland recently denied the former Trump attorney's request to reinstate his law license in the Golden State. However, on Wednesday, May 1, he stated his inability to prove he wasn't a "threat to the public."

In her ruling, Roland stated that Eastman's lack of guilt over his conduct around the 2020 election results "presents a significant risk that Eastman may engage in further unethical conduct, compounding the threat to the public."

The California Supreme Court will give the final ruling on the Chapman Law School's former dean's law license in the state, which he can appeal.

Eastman is a co-defendant alongside Trump in the Georgia election subversion case. However, he has pleaded not guilty to the eight criminal charges.

Last month, he faced another indictment in Arizona over his attempts to overturn the 2020 election along with other allies of the current 2024 GOP presumptive nominee, including Mark Meadows and Rudy Giuliani.

After Trump's defeat to Joe Biden in the 2020 White House race, Eastman played a vital role in crafting a detailed plan for then-Vice President Mike Pence to challenge the election result.

Internet mocks Trump over Eastman's law license suspension

Netizens mocked Trump over Eastman's law license suspension in DC, quipping everything the former president touches dies in the end.

Another remarked, "he picks only the best people. He said so himself."

"Does he pay enough to make it worth losing your license?" a user quipped. A response read, "Everything. Trump. Touches. Dies."

Anothser user wrote, "What happens when you sell your soul to the devil. I mean Trump."

Someone else said, "Oops! Another Trump lawyer 'barred' from practicing law (this time in DC), so it seems TFG's fanciful claim about hiring 'only the best people' is well and truly in tatters, YES or no?"

"Geese another soul collected. Poof!" read one remark. Another individual wrote, "Everyone around him… birds of a feather…"
