Antoine Jordan: Gun owner arrested after three-year-old shoots himself in face with unsecured firearm
DEKALB COUNTY, GEORGIA: According to DeKalb County Police, a tragic incident unfolded on Saturday when a three-year-old boy fatally shot himself in the face with an unsecured firearm.
Following the death of the 3-year-old boy, the owner of the gun, Antonine Jordan, has been arrested and charged.
Currently, Jordan is being held in DeKalb County Jail pending further legal proceedings. Notably, authorities refrained from disclosing the relationship between the child and Jordan.
Police responded to call after 3-year-old shot himself with an unsecured gun
According to 11Alive, on Saturday around 7 am, DeKalb County police responded to a call regarding a shooting incident at the 2600 block of Habersham Drive.
Upon arrival, officers were informed that a three-year-old child had shot himself in the face, and his mother had rushed him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Further investigation revealed that the firearm involved in the incident belonged to Antoine Jordan, who reportedly left it unsecured.
As a result of the investigation, Jordan was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and cruelty to children in the second degree.
DeKalb officials confirmed the detention of multiple individuals, and detectives were dispatched to the scene to continue the investigation.
It is important to note that officers have not yet disclosed the name of the child or his relationship to Antoine Jordan as per WSB TV.

A similar incident occurred in Dallas, Texas where a 6-year-old girl was fatally shot at her family's residence on January 10, Wednesday afternoon while her mother was absent, allegedly by a teen who used an unsecured firearm.
Ah’Laynah Modica Ross died from her injuries.
Authorities disclosed that she was at home with two adults and two other children at the time of the shooting, but have not revealed the circumstances leading to her being shot.
Damariya Sowels, 19, was apprehended for unrelated warrants and is suspected of tampering with physical evidence.
During questioning, he confessed to bringing two firearms into the residence and leaving one, a MAC-10, atop a PlayStation game console in a third-floor bedroom.
