Shaun, who was previously a Christian pastor, made the public announcement about his conversion to Islam in solidarity with Palestinians at the beginning of Ramadan the Daily Mail reports.

He shared a video of himself and his wife on Facebook, reciting the declaration of faith, shahada, at the Valley Ranch Islamic Center in Irving.

In his Facebook post, Shaun mentioned, "Good evening everyone in America and good morning to the rest of the world. My wife and I just got home from evening prayers at our home mosque in Dallas, Texas. Together, we took Shahada and converted to Islam to start off Ramadan. It was a beautiful, powerful, meaningful day for us that we will never forget."

Shaun further expressed, "I will be praying for you and I ask that you please continue praying for us. We will begin fasting in the morning with over 1 billion Muslims around the world."

Shaun also explained that his decision to embrace Islam was motivated by his desire to show support for Palestinians.

He wrote, "My heart is with my dearest friends in Gaza and I’m proud that we were able to provide meals tonight to thousands and thousands of families from the North to the South in Gaza and will do so every day of Ramadan."

Before converting to Islam, Shaun was deeply involved in Christianity and served as a pastor at Courageous Church in Atlanta from 2008 to 2011, according to Buzzfeed. Additionally, Shaun had previously used his Instagram platform to express his views on the Israel-Hamas conflict.

According to the Daily Mail, previously he criticized Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, for allegedly censoring content related to Palestinian human rights. Despite being banned from Instagram, Shaun vowed to continue advocating for justice in any way possible.
