'Apprentice' star Omarosa Manigault Newman endorses Harris, claims Trump fears losing to woman of color
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Omarosa Manigault Newman endorsed Democratic nominee Kamala Harris for the upcoming election, over her former boss and GOP nominee Donald Trump, on Monday, October 14, reported the Daily Mail.
Newman had featured with Trump on his NBC show, 'The Apprentice', before working in his administration as the director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison for a short while when he was POTUS in 2017. She has previously claimed that he was experiencing cognitive decline and hoped Harris to "usher in fresh energy" into the White House.
Omarosa Manigault Newman endorses Kamala Harris
Omarosa Manigault Newman backed Kamala Harris in an interview with Variety, where she stated, "I think what's grating on (Trump's) nerves the most is that this defeat may come at the hands of a woman of color."
She went on to explain why Trump was unsuitable to take on the top job for the second time after November, saying, "Anyone observing Donald Trump and even taking a moment to compare from 2016 to now — what becomes apparent with what's happening with Donald is that he has limited vocabulary. He rambles, and he tends to pull things out of nowhere."
With Harris, "when she wins — if she wins — I hope she'll usher in fresh energy," claimed Newman. She commented on Trump's treatment of Harris saying, "He reserves his most vitriolic attacks for women of color. To lose to a woman of color would be devastating to his ego."
Trump "squandered the greatest opportunity he had in his life to be a consequential leader, to shape the direction of our nation and bend it toward something positive. He opted to go to the dark side," she added. "That's why I have no reservation in — I guess I'm saying this for the first time — completely, 100 percent endorsing Kamala Harris for President."
Newman's endorsement of Harris comes months after Trump stated that he had hired her as "an experiment," and that she was "late all the time" and everybody "hated" her.
