Ariana Grande expresses gratitude to fans after 'disappearing' for 'Wicked' role: 'That was hard'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ariana Grande took a heartfelt moment to express her appreciation for her fans as 'Wicked' Part 1 made its worldwide premiere on Friday, November 22.

The 31-year-old pop star reflected on the impact of her journey and the connection she shares with her supporters, particularly after dedicating herself to the highly anticipated film.

Ariana Grande, who stars as Glinda in the cinematic adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical, shared an emotional note on her Instagram Story, highlighting the challenges and rewards of her transformative role.

The 'Break Free' singer thanked her “sweet, sweet fans” for their unwavering support.

“Often when we meet in person, you tell me that you've grown up with me or about the impact that my work has had on your life, but I feel like I don't really get the chance to tell you enough about the impact that you've had on mine,” wrote Grande in her post.

Ariana Grande expresses gratitude to fans

Ariana Grande expressed gratitude for how her fans have supported her over the years, saying, “I want to tell you how grateful I am for the many ways in which you've held me over the years," People reported. 

She continued, “You have held my hand and helped mend my heart time and time again over the past ten years, and I would never be here without you. I mean that in every way you can interpret it.”

Talking about the long journey of making 'Wicked', Grande acknowledged the patience her fans showed during her absence.

“Thank you for your patience with me,” she wrote. “I know I disappeared into this project for a long, long time (I believe you all called it ‘the drought’!) and I know that was hard for you all.”

She further expressed gratitude for their “fierce protection” and ability to see and love her as she evolves.

“I will never take your love, support or the irrevocable connection that we share for granted. Thank you for growing with me. It's one of the greatest joys and gifts of my life. I love you. See you at the theater.”

Ariana Grande's co-star Cynthia Erivo reflects on her 'Wicked' journey

Cynthia Erivo, who portrays Elphaba in 'Wicked', also shared her sentiments about the film’s journey.

In an Instagram post, she described the production as a transformative experience, writing, “This journey has been long, and paved with bright, yellow brick."

"We have laughed and cried, held hands and walked side by side, our lives intertwined, and because of that, we were irrevocably changed for good," Erivo added.

She expressed gratitude to her character Elphaba for the “gifts you have brought me” and praised both Grande and the film's director, Jon M Chu.

“Galinda/Glinda/Ariana Grande-Butera, I love you. You are the truest, kindest, human being. It has been an honor to share this experience of a lifetime with you,” Erivo wrote.
