Arnold Schwarzenegger's 'Fubar' axed by Netflix days after his 78th birthday

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Arnold Schwarzenegger's celebration after turning 78 on July 30 was quickly dampened by news that his first major TV project had been cut short.
The actor’s Netflix spy comedy series 'Fubar' has been canceled after just two seasons. The decision came following the show's poor performance in its second season, which failed to maintain the momentum it had built with its debut in 2023.
Netflix pulls plug on Arnold Schwarzenegger's 'Fubar' after weak Season Two debut
According to Deadline, 'Fubar' did not receive a renewal after its second season, which premiered on June 12 and struggled to make an impact.
While the first season launched strong in May 2023, Season 2 drew only 2.2 million views in its opening weekend, a sharp drop from the 11 million views the show earned during its first season premiere.
The numbers rose to 3.3 million in the show’s first full week, but it only peaked at number seven on Netflix's Top 10 for English-language series.

It slipped to Number 10 the following week with just 1.8 million views and eventually dropped out of the rankings entirely.
Internet says 'Fubar' devalued Monica Barbaro's talents as they react to Netflix's cancellation
'Fubar' starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as CIA agent Luke Brunner, who is forced out of retirement to complete one last mission only to discover he must partner with his daughter, Emma, portrayed by Monica Barbaro.

Social media users shared mixed reactions to the show's cancellation, with many agreeing with Netflix’s move.
An X (formerly Twitter) user wrote, “The second season was pretty awful, and ratings wise it didn’t get further than number 6. I’m just glad Monica Barbaro can now focus being in good movies and shows from now on, this show really devalued her talent.”

Another expressed, “The second season was not that great. I stop watching midway. Plus they waited too long to bring it back,” while someone else added, “Couldn’t make it through the first episode. So bad.”

Still, the harsh critiques continued, with one summing up the general sentiment by writing, “The 2nd season was unwatchable.”
Others said the show was mismatched for its cast.
“I’m not surprised. A lot of the actors involved were too big for a show like this, & should be on better projects,” a tweet read.
