Artem Chigvintsev's past allegations of kicking 'Strictly Come Dancing' partner resurface after arrest
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Allegations from Artem Chigvintsev's former 'Strictly Come Dancing' partner, claiming that the dancer kicked and shoved her, resurfaced after his arrest for domestic violence on August 29.
Fern Britton, a British television presenter who was Chigvintsev's partner on the reality dance show, claimed in a 2015 interview that the 'Dancing with the Stars' pro kicked and shoved her during their 2012 partnership. This interview has resurfaced recently.
In an interview with The Huffington Post UK, she accused him, saying, "We would be in hold and he would look at my feet and just kick me or shove me."
Chigvintsev was arrested on suspicion of allegedly harming his wife, Nikki Garcia. The arrest followed a 911 call from an anonymous person at his home, reporting a "medical emergency."
Fern Britton accused Artem Chigvintsev of 'manhandling' her
In the 2015 interview, the 67-year-old dancer claimed Artem Chigvintsev "manhandled" her during their time in 'Strictly Come Dancing.'
She added that he said, "You just stand there and don't move, I dance round you," and, "Shut your face. Go home before I kill you."
"I would say, 'Oh please just kill me, it would be easier,'" Britton alleged. "Or what was his other one? 'If you go for a cup of tea now, I will blow off like an atomic bomb.' I thought, 'Well, I won't correct him on that one.'"
Chigvintsev denied the accusations in a 2015 conversation with UK's Daily Express, saying it was a "shock" to him, and he treated her with "respect and genuine care."
Fern Britton said Artem Chigvintsev demeaned her for not being younger
When Fern Britton was paired with Artem Chigvintsev, he was dating actress Kara Tointon, his former partner on 'Strictly Come Dancing.'
The television host claimed that he used his experience with Tointon to belittle Britton for not being "younger and with dance ability."
"Well I think I'm young and when I'm drunk I dance really well," she recounted, responding to his insults.
In the 2015 interview, Britton also said that she was friends with the Russian dancer. "We did love each other for a moment or two but he wasn't charm personified," she noted. "I did kind of enjoy it but it was grim at the same time."
Chigvintsev later appeared on the reality dancing show, 'DWTS,' the US version of 'Strictly Come Dancing.'
The dancer was released on a bail of $25,000 hours after his arrest on August 29.
"This is a private matter, and Nikki asks for privacy for her and her family at this time," said his wife Garcia's representative, as per People. Chigvintsev and Garcia celebrated their second wedding anniversary on August 27.
