Internet not surprised as Selena Gomez is back on social media one day after announcing a break
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Selena Gomez announced to her Instagram followers on Wednesday, January 10, that she was going to take a break from social media.
However, a day after she announced the hiatus to "focus on what really matters", the singer returned to social media on Thursday, January 11, to promote her collaborative cooking video with chef Gordon Ramsay.

'The Wizards of Waverly Place' alum took to her Instagram stories on Thursday, January 11, to post a clip of herself and Ramsay making a breakfast burger.
"@gordongram stepped into my kitchen and showed me how to make an amazing Breakfast Burger," she wrote as she attached the link to watch the 14-minute-long video.
The 57-year-old chef is seen teaching the 31-year-old singer to cook and assemble the required ingredients from scrambled eggs to turkey bacon for a breakfast burger.
Sharing a video to her Instagram Story of her boyfriend Benny Blanco in which he is seen along two young children.
"I’m off social [media] for a while. Focusing on what really matters," she wrote alongside the clip.
Gomez and her record producer boyfriend confirmed their relationship in December 2023, according to People.

Selena Gomez's previous breaks from social media
Gomez is no stranger to taking breaks from social media as previously, she made a social media hiatus announcement in October 2023.
'The Only Murders in the Building' star revealed she took the break "because my heart breaks to see all the horror, hate, violence and terror that’s going on in the world."
"People being tortured and killed or any act of hate towards any one group is horrific," Gomez continued.
At the time, she emphasized "all people" need to be protected, "especially children," and asserted that "violence needs to be stopped for good."

"I'm sorry if my words will never be enough for everyone or a hashtag," she wrote.
"I just can't stand by innocent people getting hurt. That's what makes me sick. I wish I could change the world. But a post won't," she added.
Internet mocks Selena Gomez's frequent social media breaks
Gomez was slammed online for her return to social media just a day after she announced her hiatus.
