Azealia Banks slammed for mocking Beyonce's husband Jay-Z's looks as she roasts her version of 'Jolene'
LOA ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The internet has been buzzing with drama lately, all due to Azealia Banks. The 32-year-old rapper stirred up controversy when she threw shade at Jay-Z's looks and didn't hold back on slamming Beyonce's cover of 'Jolene'.
However, the social media was quickly disappointed with her comments. Beyonce's new album, 'Cowboy Carter', has been making waves too, but not just for its music. Beyonce went all out with her marketing strategy, plastering iconic buildings like the Guggenheim and the Whitney with eye-catching visuals and bold messages to hype up her album.
This isn't the first time Banks took aim at 'Cowboy Carter'. She previously slammed the album cover, accusing Beyonce of playing into stereotypes and not putting enough thought into coming up with an artistic title.
Azealia Banks slams Beyonce's cover of 'Jolene'
Beyonce's latest album has been causing a stir on social media. Firstly, because she's gone full country, switching genres, and secondly because she's collaborated with legendary artists like Dolly Parton, Miley Cyrus, Willie Nelson, and more.
Beyonce took on the challenge of covering Dolly Parton's acclaimed song 'Jolene' in 'Cowboy Carter'. Even Parton herself praised Beyonce's version, saying she liked the modifications Beyonce made.

However, Banks wasn't impressed with Beyonce's take on the song. She vented her frustration on her Instagram story. According to Music Times, Banks criticized Beyonce for making 'Jolene' fiercer and questioned who Beyonce was fighting for her husband Jay-Z.
Banks also took a swipe at Jay-Z's appearance and criticized the themes of the revised version. She said, "Themes r redundant. The lyrics are really forced. Album is too long.... Plus who is this imaginary adversary sis thinks still wants to hump on j in 2024? She's gotta find new content. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY thinks he's even remotely attractive.....Lol..started skipping around the records."
Banks praised the band, producers, and engineers for their work but felt Beyonce's performances fell short. She found the Miley Cyrus collaboration fitting but random, suggesting it should have been Beyonce and Kelly Rowland instead.
Banks criticized Beyonce for not staying true to the genre, writing, "FOR CULTURES SAKE. Def should have had Taylor Swift & Kacey Musgraves on there ...it's what the ppl wanted....I personally would have jumped out of my seat for a KT Tunstall appearance... a strong dr. Luke power ballad was missing... like "Low" .... Skip skip ...I really don't like rapyonce..Dozed off again and now I'm going to sleep."
