Ben Affleck 'back in shape' as he's inspired by Jennifer Garner’s 'Elektra' workout following divorce

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ben Affleck is making fitness a priority, and his ex-wife Jennifer Garner is reportedly playing a major role in his transformation.

Following his divorce from Jennifer Lopez, Affleck has been working hard to get in shape, drawing inspiration from Garner’s intense training for her role as Elektra in 'Deadpool & Wolverine'.

Jennifer Garner’s training motivates Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck, 52, has been preparing for his upcoming role in 'Animals', alongside Gillian Anderson, Steven Yeun, Kerry Washington, Adriana Paz, and Luis Gerardo Mendez.

“Jennifer got in such incredible shape to play Elektra in Deadpool & Wolverine, training for months every single day for hours, it’s safe to say she picked up a few tips,” an insider told InTouchDaily.

Since then, Garner has maintained her fitness routine, albeit less intensively cause she doesn't have to be in movie shape.

Following his divorce, "Ben started training with her," the source added. 

"He's following a modified version of her Elektra workout," which is a combination of weightlifting, jogging, boxing, and even some martial arts drills "to keep it interesting," the insider added.

"Ben has a personal trainer, so it’s not like he’s mooching off Jennifer, but he was inspired by her and her total transformation,” the source said.

Ben Affleck’s workouts improve his mood after divorce

Before his split from Jennifer Lopez, fitness had not been a priority for Ben Affleck.

"Getting back to regular workouts has been great for his mood; he’s always way happier after a good sweat session," the source noted.

During his marriage to Lopez, she encouraged him to work out with her, and initially, he was enthusiastic, regularly visiting the gym together.

However, he eventually lost momentum and stopped exercising. "But he’s back in shape now, thanks to Jennifer Garner," the source said.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are not getting back together 

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner married in 2005 and announced their split in 2015. They finally divorced three years later in 2018.

During the marriage, they welcomed three children: Violet, 19; Fin, 16; and Samuel, 13. 

A recent video even showed Affleck embracing Garner despite her relationship with John Miller.

Although it seemed very flirtatious, sources have declined any chances of them getting back together.

"While some fans hope they’ll rekindle their relationship, it’s not going to happen. Jen will always ride to Ben’s rescue, but it stops there," one more source previously told the publication.
