LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Although Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez called it quits six months ago, their love story and subsequent breakup are still grabbing headlines

The 'Gone Girl' actor, however, would like for it all to go away. Word on the street is that no matter how much he tries to move on, he just can’t escape the constant talk about his two-year marriage with Lopez and that highly publicized breakup.

From fairytale comeback to another heartbreak

Let’s rewind for a second. Remember when Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez—or Bennifer—got back together after almost two decades apart? It felt like the ultimate Hollywood second chance at love. They were engaged in the early 2000s, broke up, then reunited — and the next thing you know they’re married with not one, but two ceremonies in 2022.

But fast forward to August of this year, and it all came crashing down. After months of rumors and whispers that things weren’t as perfect as they seemed, Lopez, 55, and Affleck, 52, officially ended their marriage.

Lopez finally decided to open up about the breakup. In a daring photoshoot for Interview magazine—think leopard-print bikini bottoms and gloves—she got real about how heartbreaking the whole thing was. "It’s sad, it’s scary, it’s f***ing hard," she shared.

But while Lopez was out there baring her soul (and a lot more) in a magazine spread, Affleck was apparently caught off guard. According to insiders, he didn’t know she was going to speak out about their breakup—but honestly, he wasn’t that surprised either.

"Ben knows that she will talk about the breakup forever because she has made albums and documentaries about their two relationships," an insider told Daily Mail. "He would love for her not to talk about it, but he feels she will always speak out."

"He didn't get a heads-up that she was going to talk about their relationship, but he assumed that it would eventually happen. It is a part of his life just as much as anything else, he's never going to get away from it," they added.

Jennifer Lopez says divorce with Ben Affleck was 'lonely and scary'

During her Interview magazine chat with comedian Nikki Glasser, Lopez opened up about how tough the breakup really was. "It feels lonely, unfamiliar, scary," she said. "It feels sad. It feels desperate."

But she’s finding a way to rise above it all. “When you sit in those feelings and go, ‘These things are not going to kill me,’ it’s like actually, I am capable of joy and happiness all by myself.”

She’s made it clear that she’s not on the hunt for a new relationship anytime soon. “Being in a relationship doesn’t define me,” she said.

Though she didn’t name Affleck directly, she hinted that maybe he didn’t quite accept all her flaws.

"Somebody who truly loves you will help you heal those parts of yourself," she said. "That’s what I’ve learned about love, that it is a secure thing. You make me feel safe, and when I fall short of the glory, you understand me and you help me to grow to be better, because you have your boundaries and I have my boundaries."

Meanwhile, Affleck has been keeping a much lower profile—at least compared to his ex. After the interview came out, he was spotted in LA looking less than thrilled while scouting locations for his next project. It seems like he’s staying focused on work while letting Lopez handle the breakup the way she needs to.

According to insiders, he’s accepted that this is how she’s dealing with the end of their relationship. "People deal with loss and breakup in their own way, and this is what Jen had to do and Ben has to accept it," the source explained. "He would like to keep some stuff to himself, especially major details about their relationship."

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are 'moving on'

So, what’s next for Bennifer 2.0 now that they’ve officially called it quits? Well, it seems like both are moving on—kind of. Lopez filed for divorce back in August, which made it official. But even after the breakup, they’re still tied together in some ways.

The former couple reunited last month for a family outing at the Beverly Hills Hotel with their children. Lopez shares 16-year-old twins Emme and Max with her ex Marc Anthony, and Affleck has three children—Violet, Finn, and Samuel—with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

Their former $60 million mansion is now up for sale, and rumors of the split first started swirling when Affleck reportedly moved into a $100K-a-month rental near Garner. Seems like both are trying to carve out their own space after heading their separate ways.
