Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez clash with Jennifer Garner over singer's 'easy going' parenting style
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez, and Jennifer Garner are reportedly clashing over different parenting approaches amid the 'Jenny From the Block' singer and 'Air' star's marital issues.
Ben, 51, and Garner, 52, are parents to Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel Affleck, 12. Meanwhile, Ben is the stepfather of Lopez's 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme Muniz, who she shares with her former spouse Marc Anthony.
Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Garner have different 'methods of raising kids'
Regarding the blended family, a source told the celebrity blog DeuxMoi on Friday, May 17, "Jen Garner has more of a Type A approach while Jennifer tends to be more easygoing and flexible in her methods of raising the kids," per InTouch Weekly.
The insider added, "The writing is on the wall – it’s over." However, the stars are presenting a unified face for their kids. They were seen together at Fin's school performance on Thursday, May 16, after 47 days without being spotted together.
Accompanied by Emme in the back seat, Ben and Lopez were observed driving out of Fin's high school together in the same vehicle, according to images and footage obtained by the outlet.
A source emphasized, "Nothing would have stopped them coming together for the kids."
"All the marriage drama comes second. … Jen showed up with Emme to support Fin. Emme’s super attached to Fin, so it’s only natural that Jen, no matter what she’s going through with Ben, was there," the source added.
However, according to reports, Ben reportedly left Emme and Lopez at their Beverly Hills residence after the event and returned to his rented house alone.
The Oscar winner has been staying at a rented property in Brentwood, California, purportedly while dealing with marital issues.
Amid their discord over parenting approaches, Ben and the 54-year-old Lopez are facing marital turbulence. According to InTouch Weekly's report on Wednesday, May 15, the actor has "moved out" of their shared home, signaling that they may be "headed for a divorce."
The fact that Lopez welcomed public attention while Ben shied away from it was a persistent source of conflict in their relationship.
The 'Air' star said in Lopez's documentary 'The Greatest Love Story Never Told,' "Getting back together, I said, ‘Listen, one of the things I don’t want is a relationship on social media.’"
"Then I sort of realized it’s not a fair thing to ask. It’s sort of, like, you’re going to marry a boat captain and you go, ‘Well, I don’t want the water.’ We’re trying to learn to compromise."
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck previously showed the value of co-parenting
Before their separation, the former couple was photographed in January outside their son Samuel Affleck’s school in Los Angeles. Ben and Garner appeared content and amicable during their conversation.
They might have gone to one of Samuel's practices or games because he was sporting a basketball jersey, per HOLA! Magazine.
While Garner and Ben were sharing parenting responsibilities, the artist, whose album 'This Is Me... Now' was scheduled for release in February 2024, was in Paris for Fashion Week.
The 54-year-old businesswoman appeared at several events wearing amazing costumes at the time.
Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Garner proved to be ideal co-parents with group outing
On a Sunday night in January, the trio of Ben, Jennifer Garner, and Jennifer Lopez warmed many hearts when they were seen out and about in Los Angeles with their children: Samuel, Emme, and Seraphina.
Everyone opted for casual attire; Ben wore camel jeans paired with a red plaid button-down shirt and mismatched Nike sneakers, while his current wife donned a stylish white monochromatic sweater and jeans. Garner chose a cozy gray sweater and blue denim.
In an interview with HELLO! magazine, Lucy Shrimpton, The Sleep Nanny and Parenting Expert at 'The Baby Show,' offered her insights on the Garner-Affleck-Lopez dynamic, noting, "[Garner] appears laid back, caring, present, and confident. She evidently doesn't harbor petty grudges, as she maintains a friendship with her ex-husband's partner, Jennifer Lopez, and even includes her kids in outings."
Shrimpton added, "Today there are so many blended families and they are an inspiration that things can work out and that old concept of the 'evil step-mother' is a thing of bad fairy tales."
