Internet 'not surprised' as Ben Affleck reportedly staying apart from Jennifer Lopez amid split rumors

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ben Affleck, 51, is reportedly staying at a separate house away from his wife, Jennifer Lopez after rumors surfaced claiming the couple was headed for divorce.

Earlier it was reported that Lopez had been house hunting in Los Angeles and reportedly accompanied by a woman who appeared to be her longtime producing partner, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas.

Affleck was pictured on May 16  morning in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles.

"He left a house that he's been seen coming from and going to," TMZ reported. It added he has "been spending the night as well."

He was again spotted leaving the same area driving solo and "Ben was NOT spotted at his house with J Lo the night prior," the outlet reported. 

So it is likely, the publication observed, that the 'Good Will Hunting' actor has "spent the night here at this Brentwood," away from J Lo. 

Pictures obtained by Page Six showed Affleck was still wearing his wedding ring. It reported that the 'Gone Girl' star has been staying at the Brentwood home 'over the past week or so' and his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, lives nearby.

The rumors are rife that they have split amid an InTouch report which claimed that Ben Affleck has hit a breaking point with Jennifer Lopez.

“The writing is on the wall – it’s over,” the insider told the publication. “They’re headed for a divorce – and for once, [Ben’s] not to blame!”

It was highlighted last week when she attended the 2024 Met Gala solo the previous week.

Ben’s official excuse for missing the Met Gala was that he was busy filming 'The Accountant 2,' but sources told InTouch he “decided to call it quits” on his marriage to the A-list singer.

“He’s focusing on his work and his kids now,” the source said.  “Ben already moved out and they’ll likely have to sell the dream house they spent two years searching for."

"They’ll never stop loving each other, but she can’t control him, and he can’t change her. There’s no way it could have lasted.”

The publication reported that Lopez and Affleck are in therapy to work on their issues

“Ben believes in therapy, to a point, and is willing to be a good sport about participating with an open mind, even though he hates the whole humiliating process,” a source told the outlet.

“He’s never going to gauge the success of this marriage by what happens in the therapist’s office. He also has a higher tolerance for conflict and having to fight to get his way than the average guy, the source further stated. 

The source said “everything is a fight” between the couple. Lopez and Affleck first met in 2002 but broke things off in 2004.

Since then, they both went on to marry other people, have kids, and get divorced. They finally rekindled their romance and married in July 2022. 

Internet hopes Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck find peace 

The internet suggested that the pair was damaged and wished they could find peace even as some suggested they were not surprised.

"Honestly, I’m not surprised. Hollywood relationships always seem so complicated. Hope they both find some peace, whether together or apart," wrote one on X.

"Honestly why do people keep marrying her?" asked another. "I always thought he was the problem but it’s really just her," wrote one.

"That’s sad. I have never liked either of them because they both act like jerks but I did think it was kind of romantic they came back to each other again after all this time. Hopefully they can work it out," wrote one more. 

"Guess the contract is up. The more PR celebrity couples put out about true love and how perfect their live is, the less I believe it," one more wrote taking a dig at her documentary.

"Two troubled people. This guy had a family, what is wrong with him?"asked one.  "What a shock. Both have a few screws loose. Ben seems to have substance issues. Damaged people find damaged people," wrote another.
