Ben Affleck keeps praising ex Jennifer Lopez as he 'doesn't want to get crucified' in divorce battle
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ben Affleck recently complimented his estranged wife Jennifer Lopez as their divorce proceedings continue.
The 'Waiting For Tonight' singer and the 'Batman V Superman' star tied the knot in July 2022 but two years later in August 2024, Lopez filed for divorce without a lawyer in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
As the couple did not have a prenuptial agreement, the legal separation also means the division of their bank balances and assets worth millions, including their $60.85 million Beverly Hills home.
Ben Affleck is trying to 'charm' Jennifer Lopez
Amid their divorce proceedings, the ‘Good Will Hunting’ star called Jennifer Lopez's performance in 'Unstoppable' “spectacular” during a recent interview.
However, an insider told RadarOnline.com, “Ben is correct to turn on the charm because he doesn't want to get crucified in the divorce deal. The numbers are off the scale; the lack of a prenup doesn't help things.”
“Ben is mounting a charm and damage limitation offensive in tandem so, sure, he's gonna say all the right things about Jennifer,” they added.
Ben Affleck complimented Jennifer Lopez while discussing ‘Unstoppable’
On Sunday, November 3, Ben Affleck sat down for a chat with Entertainment Tonight regarding his latest film, 'Small Things Like These'.
While discussing the movie, he also spoke about ‘Unstoppable’ that stars the ‘On The Floor’ singer.
He stated, “Unstoppable is a very different movie than this but in a way, it’s similarly rooted in the passion of really talented artists.”
Affleck also added, “[Director] Billy Goldenberg and Jennifer [Lopez] and Don Cheadle and Jharrel [Jerome], and Bobby Cannavale, all were really passionate about this film...Jennifer is spectacular.”
Jennifer Lopez thanked God for ending her marriage
Ben Affleck's remark came after Jennifer Lopez addressed her split from the actor last month.
Without taking his name, the 55-year-old actress told Interview Magazine that she does not “regret” her decision.
She elaborated, “That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost take me out for good. It almost did. But now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, ‘F**k, that is exactly what I needed. Thank you, god. I’m sorry it took me so long. I’m sorry that you had to do this to me so many times. I should have learned it two or three times ago. I get it.’”
However, Lopez also mentioned that the separation “doesn’t mean I have everything figured out."
"Now I’m excited when you say you’re just going to be on your own. Yes, I’m not looking for anybody,” she said.
“The relationship with yourself, for me, is the relationship with myself being cultivated in this moment and my relationship with god, that I think we tend to get away from at times, when you’re wrapped up with other people. And god has always been such a big part of my life,” Lopez further added.
