Ben Affleck recalls 'strange’ reason why FBI visited his LA home: 'Do you want to talk to me?'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ben Affleck is shedding light on the unusual reason the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) visited his Los Angeles home earlier this year.
The visit took place on January 12, when authorities were seen outside the actor’s residence in Brentwood, California.
Ben Affleck says FBI visit was due to a nearby break-in
Ben Affleck now revealed what led to the unexpected presence of federal agents.
"As it turns out, the FBI did, in fact, visit my house. But this is pretty revealing, right?" the actor, 52, said in GQ interviews that he first learned about it through media reports.

He continued, "So I come home and I see there’s a story with sources that say, ‘Hey, the FBI was at your house.’ I’m like, ‘Well, this is strange.’"
Seeking clarity, the 'Gone Girl' star decided to contact the authorities.
"I call them and say, ‘Hey, FBI, were you at my house? Do you want to talk to me?’ ‘Oh, we don’t know.’ I get transferred along," Affleck recounted.
"Finally, somebody who is actually responsible for what was happening was like, ‘Oh, we had no idea that was your house,’" he revealed.
He explained that the agents were responding to a break-in at a federal official’s home nearby.

"So the FBI went around and whoever lived there, the FBI rang their bell, but because there are photographers sitting outside and these guys have their FBI jackets on, then it’s: The FBI has visited your house," he said.
Ben Affleck denies reports about drone investigation at his house
On the day of the visit, TMZ reported that federal agents were investigating an incident involving a private drone. However, Ben Affleck dismissed those claims during his interview.
"Whoever wrote the story made up something about how it was related to an investigation about a drone that I guess did crash into one of the helicopters two or three miles up Mandeville Canyon. Turns out, no, it wasn’t about that," he stated.

He clarified that his home was far from the drone incident. "In fact, we were very far from where the drone was. So it’s like: You’ve seen this event about the FBI at my house. I had no idea. My only involvement was to track it down, figure it out," he added.
The FBI released a statement at the time, confirming Affleck was not under any investigation, Us Weeklyreported.
Ben Affleck says his main focus is his family
Reflecting on the media attention surrounding the event, Ben Affleck acknowledged the surreal nature of his public life.
Asked whether it "feels odd ... that some stranger will show up in front of you and be like, 'I know you got a FedEx package yesterday?'" he said.
"I’m aware that it’s absurd and it’s ridiculous," he told the publication.
"There’s nothing newsworthy at all about the day-to-day events of my life or the conversation I have with one person or another person that’s photographed," Affleck said.
He said he chooses to focus on what truly matters. "What I’ve ended up focusing on is: Look, I know what’s going on in my life. And also, really more importantly, my kids know," he added.
