Jennifer Lopez gets to keep ‘rare’ $5M green diamond engagement ring after Ben Affleck divorce settlement
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s love story has come to an official close, but one glittering reminder of their romance will remain with Lopez - the breathtaking 8.5-carat green diamond engagement ring that symbolized their rekindled love.
The couple, who captured hearts when they reunited in 2021, tied the knot in an intimate Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022, celebrating with a grander affair in Georgia surrounded by friends and family.
Ben Affleck waives rights to Jennifer Lopez’s $5M green diamond ring
Unfortunately, the couple's whirlwind romance came to an end when Jennifer Lopez, 53, filed for divorce in August 2024.
The dissolution of Lopez and Affleck's marriage was finalized nearly five months later on January 6, 2025, according to court documents obtained by People.
As part of the divorce settlement, Affleck, 52, “disclaims and waives all right, title, and interest in and to the following assets hereby confirmed and transferred” to Lopez.
This includes her “clothing, jewelry, and miscellaneous personal effects".
Among these items is the dazzling green diamond engagement ring that made headlines when Affleck proposed.
Estimated to be worth over $5 million, the radiant-cut diamond is flanked by two half-moon accent diamonds and set on a platinum band.
The ring carries even more meaning with its engraved message from Affleck: “not.going.anywhere".
Jennifer Lopez’s lucky colour is green
At the time of their engagement, Jennifer Lopez shared in her newsletter just how much the unique green stone meant to her.
“Green has always been my lucky color and now, for sure, it always will be,” she wrote.
A diamond expert previously noted that natural green diamonds are “extremely rare” and challenging to cut, per People.
“Green diamonds are among the most difficult to cut, and a diamond like this could have taken a year or more to plan and cut to ensure that it reflects the best cut and color possible,” they explained.
The expert added that the gem’s value will “significantly increase over time".
Lopez was seen wearing the green rock during her 2024 Golden Globes appearance.
According to TMZ, both parties in the divorce "walked away with what they individually acquired during the marriage," and neither owed spousal support.
Affleck got to "keep his stake" in his production company, Artists Equity, while Lopez held on to "her own major projects" from their time together.
As for their $61 million mansion? The terms surrounding that remained confidential.
Going back to the ring, well, this wasn’t the first time Affleck proposed to Lopez with a dazzling diamond.
Back in 2004, during their first engagement, he presented her with a 6-carat radiant-cut pink diamond from Harry Winston.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez remain committed to co-parenting
While their initial romance fizzled out, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's reunion nearly two decades later seemed like a fairytale—until cracks in the relationship surfaced.
Despite their split, Lopez and Affleck remain committed to co-parenting and ensuring their blended families thrive.
Lopez shares 16-year-old twins, Maximilian 'Max' and Emme, with ex-husband Marc Anthony, while Affleck shares Violet, 19, Seraphina, 14, and Samuel, 12, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.
The day before their divorce was finalized, Lopez was spotted visiting Affleck’s Los Angeles home with her child, Emme. Affleck’s son Samuel was also present.
“The kids love spending time together. Ben and Jennifer always do everything for the kids to be happy,” a source told PEOPLE on January 6.
“The kids don’t drive, so Ben and Jennifer will continue to facilitate meetups. They are not getting back together. Ben was with his kids for Christmas and Jennifer with hers. They all had a great holiday break," the tipster spilled.
