Jennifer Lopez gets candid about struggles of being single mother to twins: ‘Am I enough for them’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jennifer Lopez, who shares twins Emme and Max with ex-husband Marc Anthony, revealed the challenges of being a single mother. She talked about the similarities between herself and her reel character Judy Robles, mother of NCAA champion wrestler Anthony Robles, while discussing her new film, ‘Unstoppable’.
She told Entertainment Weekly, “It says a lot about the character of someone, when people are good and loving and supportive of each other, what they can accomplish.”
“I've been a single mom at times in my life, and [I’ve asked,] 'Am I enough for them?' And the truth is, all you need is really one good parent to love you,” she stated, before mentioning, “You hear it in Anthony's voice, and look what he’s been able to accomplish.”
Jennifer Lopez says ‘Unstoppable’ made her feel she was ‘enough’
Jennifer Lopez, 55, said working on 'Unstoppable', the movie based on Anthony Robles' life, gave her strength. “That's what the movie gave me: You are enough,” she asserted.
The ‘On The Floor’ hitmaker then referred to Judy Robles and further explained, “There was a lot about her that I understood. There were different sides to him (Anthony) that the kids didn't see, that only Judy saw.”
“With those types of people, there's a part of them that fools you into thinking that they care about you and that they truly love you — and it's really about their damage that they're putting onto you,” she shared.
'Unstoppable' is produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s production company, Artists Equity. It also stars Don Cheadle, Michael Pena and Jharrel Jerome, and will be available on Prime Video from January 16.
Jennifer Lopez says ‘there’s no perfect version of a mom’
Jennifer Lopez shares 16-year-old twins Emme and Max with her fourth husband, Marc Anthony. She and Anthony were married for ten years — from 2004 to 2014.
In 2023, she had opened up about motherhood as she told The Hollywood Reporter, “I remember when I wasn’t a mother, I didn’t understand that at all.”
“I remember apologizing to friends of mine at that time who had kids — I was like, ‘Why don’t you do this and this?’ And then once I had [kids], I was like, ‘I’m so sorry; I had no idea," ‘The Boy Next Door’ star revealed.

Also while reflecting on her 2023 movie ‘The Mother’, she said, “This movie, in particular, I love because it really thinks about: What kind of mother are you? [In the film,] there’s two different mothers, the adoptive mother and the character that I played, who’s actually her biological mother.”
“It just goes to show that there’s no perfect version of a mom. You have to be the best mom you can be with who you are and what you know, and the things that you learned and experienced in your life,” she added.
