Shannen Doherty faces financial struggles and accuses ex-husband of lavish spending amid cancer battle
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Beverly Hills, 90210' star Shannen Doherty, from the 1990s, recently revealed that she has been struggling financially while experiencing a serious health issue.
Over five years ago, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Now, she faces financial difficulties in affording ongoing care, attributing her crisis to her ex-husband.
Doherty, aged 53, alleged that her estranged husband, Kurt Iswarienko, aged 49, has intentionally delayed their divorce proceedings to evade paying spousal support.

The television series 'Beverly Hills, 90210' helped Doherty initially become famous in the entertainment industry. Her breast cancer diagnosis in 2015 marked the start of her health problems, which later extended to her lymph nodes.
She underwent extensive radiation and chemotherapy treatments, along with a mastectomy and breast reconstruction.
In 2020, Doherty revealed that her cancer had recurred and spread to her bones and brain.
Recent records indicate that the actress has requested financial support from her ex-husband Iswarienko, with whom she was married for 12 years from 2011 until 2023.
In addition to seeking $15,343 in monthly support, she also requested that her ex-husband cover the legal expenses related to their divorce. Her depleted savings and financial strain due to her illness were cited as reasons for these requests.
Doherty submitted the necessary paperwork in Los Angeles on June 14, asking for a $15,343 monthly spousal support payment that would be "retroactive to June 1, 2024."
She also requested Iswarienko to pay $9,100 toward the costs and services of her legal representation.
Doherty, who has been contending with stage four illness for years, stated in court records obtained by Us Weekly, "Due to my ongoing health challenges, I have been largely unable to work and do not foresee any future employment opportunities."
"Today, virtually all of the income I earn is residual income from work that I performed prior to marriage."
The statement went on to state that Doherty has not worked since 2022 and that "as a result, my future residual income will dramatically decrease."
"The majority of my residual income is from a television show called Charmed. I recently learned that Charmed will no longer be streaming on any major streaming platform after June 30, 2024," the actress added in the statement.
According to reports, she spent more than $20,000 on medical bills in 2023, per Marca.
The actress further alleged that Iswarienko has the means to help with her medical expenses, which she stated amounted to $21,640 in 2023 alone and are expected to "significantly increase" after she loses access to SAG health insurance due to her employment status.
However, she asserted that Iswarienko has placed his own lifestyle above her needs.

The 'Beverly Hills, 90210' star claimed in documents, obtained by People, that she has still not received financial information on her ex's "archive" of his photos.
Doherty also accused Iswarienko of living a lavish lifestyle despite her lack of access to money, their jet, or their Texas vacation house during their marriage.
The actress stated that the photographer deliberately delayed proceedings until her health deteriorated.
"It is simply not right that Kurt be permitted to prolong our divorce in hopes that I die before he is required to pay me while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife of more than 11 years," the 'Beverly Hills, 90210' star wrote in the statement.
Iswarienko's attorney denied the allegations, stating that the photographer intended to finalize the divorce in September 2023 after making a settlement offer to the 'Charmed' alum, which she declined.
"Kurt is not 'simply wait[ing] for Shannen to die,'" lawyer Katherine Heersema said. "He wants the best for Shannen and he wants both of them to be able to put this case behind them and move forward."
According to the document, Doherty rejected Iswarienko's settlement offer because he "avoided addressing issues related to his original works created during the marriage" and "his earning potential."
Describing Iswarienko's apparent extravagant lifestyle, Doherty's statement reads, "Kurt has been using the airplane, spending thousands of dollars at medical spas, jewelry stores, Gucci, and on flights... all while claiming he lacks sufficient funds to support me."
Doherty acknowledged that, amid her illness, she had been gradually getting ready to pass away by organizing her possessions to make her mother Rosa's transition "easier," per Page Six.
