LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Taylor Swift and Beyonce’s fans are locking horns in a social media war after Swift was named the second Greatest Pop Star of the 21st Century by Billboard.

This ranking clearly did not go down well with some Swifties who were expecting the 'Love Story' singer to get the top spot, and they reacted outrageously.

An online debate regarding the superiority of the two behemoths of pop music - Taylor Swift and Beyonce - started this week after Billboard named the artist in the No. 2 spot of their list of 25 Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century.

While the top name has not been revealed yet, Swift’s fans did not take kindly to the ranking as it is widely believed that the ‘Cowboy Carter’ star will get the coveted spot.

Taylor Swift’s fans called out for alleged racism

Taylor Swift took the second place on the Billboard list ahead of Rihanna (3rd spot), Drake (4th spot), and Lady Gaga (5th spot). Other artists on the list were Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Adele, Usher, Britney Spears.

But Swifties were outraged because they felt she deserved the top spot. Soon some started trolling Beyonce using racial slurs.

Beyhive - Beyonce’s loyal fanbase- however, pushed back at the online trolling, while initiating the viral trend of #SwiftRacism.

Currently, with 123K tweets, the trend is growing as the Beyhives openly called out the Swifties for their alleged racially demeaning posts targeting the ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ songstress.

Per AllHipHop. Billboard anticipated the backlash they received after putting Swift on the second spot, but “not the outpouring of racist abuse".

The outlet quoted Billboard, “The fact that controversy will likely tear through the internet over [Swift] being just one small space below No. 1 is just another testament to her power.”

Taylor Swift and Beyonce's fans lock horns online

Billboard sparked an online war between Swifties and the Beyhive after they announced Taylor Swift on the second position of their list of 25 Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century.  Soon, some of Swift's fans expressed vitriolic reactions that subsequently led to the starting of the #SwiftieRacism trend by Beyonce's fans.

One user said on X, "Can we acknowledge the racism from swifties without trying to make taylor to be some violently racist white woman when she’s simply not that."

Someone else criticized the Swifties, "Racism has ALWAYS been a strongly present issue within Taylor’s fanbase. When people think of a “racist fanbase,” SWIFTIES is the first word that comes to mind. And the thing is, they’ve NEVER tried to hide it and have always been openly racist."

"Anytime a Swiftie is called out on their racism, they always use the same tired excuse of it being “setup accounts.” Notice they never denounce the racism or voice disgust of it. It’s always “it’s a set up.” The gaslighting is over. Swifties are RACISTS," declared another user.

Someone else noted, "The way the #swiftieracism is revealing all the closet racists lmao."

"ENOUGH OF THE RACISM OF TAYLOR SWIFT FANS ON BEYONCE #swiftieracism," called out another.

Someone else noted, "That's the 4th racist uprage swifties had this year.....im genuinely convinced that fanbase just hate black people #swiftieracism."

"Imagine my surprise coming on Twitter & seeing #SwiftieRacism trending🌚I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again: that fandom is NEVER beating the antiblack allegations," mused another user.

An individual, however, noted unbiasedly, "The Taylor Swift fandom is MASSIVE, and she can't be blamed for some fans being nasty. She's never said or done anything to promote that kind of behavior. Not to mention, a bunch of those accounts are fake and just posing as Swifties."

Another user similarly noted, "There's always a handful of toxic people in any fan base."
