LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Beyonce has landed in legal trouble over a visual used in her Cowboy Carter Tour, which recently kicked off in Los Angeles.

The pop superstar’s production company has reportedly been served a cease-and-desist letter from Sphere Entertainment Group, the owner of the Las Vegas-based Sphere arena.

The controversy revolves around a stylized scene in a performance video where a larger-than-life Beyonce appears to pick up and interact with the LED-covered venue during her concert.

Beyonce's tour footage sparks legal trouble with Sphere Entertainment Group

Billboard reported that the visual angered Sphere Entertainment Group CEO James Dolan after a failed attempt to book Beyonce at the venue.

According to the Daily Beast, she instead chose Allegiant Stadium for her Las Vegas tour stops this summer.

SEG claimed that the video was an “impermissible use and violation” of its intellectual property rights.

In a legal letter obtained by Page Six, attorney Kathleen McCarthy wrote, “Beyonce — many orders of magnitude larger than the Sphere venue — leans over, picks up the venue, and looms over it.”

McCarthy added that the company “was never asked” for permission and called the use of the venue “unauthorized.”

SEG warned the imagery could cause “significant speculation that Beyonce will end her tour with a Sphere residency.”

McCarthy wrote in the cease-and-desist letter that they demanded Beyonce's team remove the video, stop using the Sphere image in merchandise or promotional materials, and comply by Monday or face potential further legal action.

The visual sequence has already spread widely, with fans at her first shows at SoFi Stadium sharing clips of the towering digital Beyonce walking through the Las Vegas skyline and interacting with the venue.

The legal warning also instructs Parkwood Entertainment, Beyonce’s production company, to avoid including the imagery in future marketing, merchandise, or potential tour films.

Beyonce is currently scheduled to conclude her US leg with performances in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium on July 25 and 26.

Fans express support for Beyonce as she faces legal backlash over tour visuals

Beyonce’s fanbase, the Beyhive, quickly reacted to the cease-and-desist notice online, mocking the legal move by Sphere Entertainment.

One user wrote on X, “This is a stunt, lol they can’t really sue her for that. It’s not even the real sphere.”

“They’re stupid for that, imagine the Queen posting that flop sphere on her tour for free. They should be paying her,” another added.

“Welp there goes their chances of her ever performing there. Would’ve been their most lucrative residency ever...,” one fan said.

“They’re so mad that Beyoncé turned them down Like the interlude basically says: she’s bigger than the Sphere,” wrote another fan on social media.
