LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Looks like one of Hollywood’s favorite bromances is going through a bit of turbulence. Brad Pitt and George Clooney are apparently on shaky ground after their latest collaboration 'Wolfs' bombed at the box office.

Once a dream team, their friendship is now said to be in jeopardy as the two reportedly play the blame game over the film's dismal reception. So, what happened to these two Hollywood heartthrobs?

'Wolfs' fails to impress

The film 'Wolfs' — which hit cinemas recently and is also available on AppleTV+ — features Brad Pitt and George Clooney as ex-boxers who team up despite their past rivalry. On paper, it sounded like a can't-miss combo—two charming stars with undeniable on-screen chemistry.

But the reality? Critics weren't impressed, to say the least. The movie was slammed as "uninspired" and "lifeless," with one even calling it a "vanity project" that had no real substance. Another critic went as far as labeling the film "shockingly bad."

According to Radar Online, the film’s failure has put a serious strain on the once-bulletproof camaraderie between the 'Ocean’s Eleven' stars. An insider spilled, "George is starting to feel like every time he tries to do something with Brad, it blows up in his face."

And apparently Pitt isn’t thrilled about being blamed for the flop either. "Brad is getting tired of being his buddy’s whipping boy," the source added.

Friendship on the rocks?

While the movie’s poor performance seems to be the final straw, it's not the first time there’s been tension between Brad Pitt and George Clooney. Their friendship had already cooled off over the years, particularly during the time Pitt was married to Angelina Jolie.

According to insiders, Jolie never approved of Clooney’s friendship with Pitt. She purportedly wasn't a fan of his wife Amal Clooney, a high-profile international human rights lawyer.

"Ange always felt threatened by Amal and her impressive pedigree," one source revealed. "She immediately took a dislike to her and made it impossible for George and Brad to spend time together."

Apparently, the tension was so bad that Pitt even skipped George and Amal's wedding in 2014. "That was a real blow for George. It took him a long time to rebuild trust in his old buddy," the source shared.

After Pitt's messy divorce from Jolie, though, it seemed like the two stars were finally rekindling their friendship. Clooney stood by Pitt’s side during his highly publicized divorce and custody battle.

The insider revealed, "George couldn’t stand by and let Brad be beaten up like that in the public eye. He made himself available to Brad for emotional support and their friendship got a second wind."

With their bromance apparently back on track, the duo decided to collaborate again for the first time since 2008's 'Burn After Reading'. However, what was meant to be their grand comeback has turned into what some might call a disaster.

"Now it’s all blown up in their faces," the insider said. "Neither has had a significant hit in years and now this mega-disaster has thrown a grenade into their happy reunion."

Future of the Pitt-Clooney bromance

The drama surrounding 'Wolfs' has certainly cast a shadow over Brad Pitt and George Clooney’s friendship, but the future of their bromance remains to be seen. During a press conference at the Venice Film Festival — where the movie premiered — Clooney spoke about the importance of working with friends as he gets older.

"We kind of figured there’s gotta be a good reason to get back in a film together, something we feel like we could build upon what we’ve done before. But also, I gotta say, as I get older, working with the people that I just really enjoy spending time with has really become important to me," Clooney shared.
