WASHINGTON, DC: In an attempt at damage control after President Joe Biden's lackluster debate show, the Biden campaign blasted the "bedwetting brigade" who demanded the president drop out of the 2024 race.

Deputy campaign manager Rob Flaherty affirmed that the 81-year-old would continue as the Democratic presumptive nominee in a fundraising email to supporters titled '7 Things to Tell Your Friends After The Debate — And 4 Things You Can Do'.

"The bedwetting brigade is calling for Joe Biden to 'drop out.' That is the best possible way for Donald Trump to win and us to lose," the email read, as per the New York Post. Flaherty noted that "if he were to drop out, it would lead to weeks of chaos, internal foodfighting, and a bunch of candidates who limp into a brutal floor fight at the convention."

The Democratic National Convention, where Biden will be formally announced as the 2024 presidential nominee, is scheduled to be held from August 19 to 22.

Fundraising email admits Joe Biden's debate was 'rough'

Rob Flaherty cited polling data from the Data for Progress think tank to boost the panicked supporters. The data indicated Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were the strongest Democratic contenders against ex-President Donald Trump.

Trump outperformed all the prominent Democrats listed in the poll, where Biden and Harris scored 45%, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Sen Cory Booker, California Gov Gavin Newsom, and Michigan Gov Gretchen Whitmer stood at 44%. Flaherty pointed at the likely adverse outcome of replacing Biden, the "only person ever to defeat Donald Trump," with candidates less likely to win.

In the fundraising email, the deputy campaign manager also admitted that the June 27 debate was "rough."

"Yes, the debate started rough, but voters saw what a threat Donald Trump is to the country. It was more than just lying — though he did plenty of that," he stated.

Coming face to face with Trump for the first time after the 2024 race kicked off, Biden shocked Democrats with a raspy voice, often faltering and struggling to form words during the 90-minute-long debate.

His dismal performance added to the existing concerns regarding his age being a hindrance to effective leadership for one more term if elected in November.

Biden also acknowledged his unimpressive debate at a North Carolina rally on June 28, conceding he was "not a young man." However, the octogenarian and his campaign stood firm on continuing with the re-election bid.

Internet slams Biden campaign's fundraising email criticizing 'bedwetting brigade'

Netizens blamed the Biden campaign for labeling the panicked Democrats as a "bedwetting brigade" after the president's dull debate show.

"They are making it worse by gaslighting everyone. This could be the end of the democratic party as we know it," a user said.

"This is absolutely pathetic. Why are the democrats so cringe? After Biden's disastrous debate, campaign emails supporters on how to defend him: 'Bedwetting brigade,'" another remarked.

"Dems are trying to lose. The power players keep their power when out of office," added one user.

"Insulting voters is a bold strategy," read a response.

"There must be a word to describe this type of logic...desperate? ridiculous?... After Biden's disastrous debate, campaign emails supporters on how to defend him: 'Bedwetting brigade,'" another person said.

"They need to STOP GASLIGHTING!" Someone else stated.

"Who came up with 'bed wetting brigade'? Pathetic. Of course he needs to drop out," an individual wrote.

"Lol now they're insulting their potential voters. They should be trying to convince them back to their side," another user added.
