WASHINGTON, DC: The Biden campaign has hit back at Donald Trump recently claiming that President Joe Biden is planning to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race, making way for Vice President Kamala Harris.

The former president made these remarks in a video posted on his Truth Social handle on Thursday, July 4.

The Truth Social video shows Trump on a golf course with his youngest son, Barron, where he boasted about his debate perfomance against Biden on June 27.

“Look at that old broken-down pile of crap. You know, he just quit. He’s quitting the race," he said of Biden.

"That means we have Kamala. She’s so bad, she’s so pathetic,” he added.

However, the timing of when the video was captured is unclear.

Meanwhile, the Biden campaign insists that the president will not quit the race and will continue his reelection campaign despite the widespread criticism following his poor debate performance.

Some of the members of the Democratic Party questioned his candidacy for the upcoming November election, raising concerns over his mental fitness after he appeared to halt and meander during the debate.

Within the party, there is growing concern over whether Harris would have a better chance against Trump.

However, in a prerecorded interview with Wisconsin radio host Earl Ingram, Biden stated he would win this election after admitting he "had a bad night" during the debate.

“I screwed up. I made a mistake. But I learned from my father, when you get knocked down, just get back up. And you know, we’re gonna win this election," he continued.

"We’re gonna just beat Donald Trump as much as we did in 2020," Biden added.

Joe Biden campaign spokesperson criticizes Donald Trump's claims

A recent CNN poll published on Tuesday, July 2, showed Harris running closer to Trump than Biden is. Other polls indicated that the president is losing ground to Trump on national level in key swing states.

In response to Trump's video, Biden campaign spokesperson Sarafina Chitika released a strong statement saying, “No Donald. What is bad is taking away women’s rights; what is bad is losing an election and encouraging a violent mob to attack the Capitol."

Chitika also criticized Trump's presidency and his recent legal troubles, including his conviction in the hush money criminal case, according to The Hill.

She highlighted the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 which outlines a hard-right vision for a second-term under Trump's presidency.

“And what is bad is running on a platform of your revenge and retribution ahead of what is best for our country. Thanks for letting us clear that up for you,” said Chitika.

Responding to the video, Trump’s campaign advisor Chris LaCivita took to X (formerly Twitter) to write, “nothing in this video is incorrect.”
