WASHINGTON, DC: Outgoing President Joe Biden was subjected to fierce trolling on social media after he forgot the name of a man he had called on stage to sing 'Happy Birthday' to, the Daily Mail reported on Sunday, January 5.

The 82-year-old has long sparked concerns and criticism across the political aisle over his apparently diminishing mental acuity. It peaked in the middle of last year after his disastrous debate performance against then-GOP nominee and current President-elect Donald Trump.

Biden stepped down from his reelection bid following the fierce criticism and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in his stead. Of course, this move did not yield the desired results as Harris lost to Trump in the recent election.

Joe Biden flubs singing 'Happy Birthday'

According to the publication, Joe Biden invited a young man named Alicio on stage at the White House on Sunday to wish him on his birthday, which led to the latest viral gaffee by the POTUS.

He began to sing his rendition of the birthday song with the person by his side but apparently forgot the latter's name. The 82-year-old outgoing president sang off-key and then mumbled through the part where he had to say Alicio’s name. He vocalized an extended "to you" at that specific part of the song.

The moment was captured on video, which shows Alicio laughing out at the awkward stretch as Biden botched his name. The president did pick up the song at the end and eventually completed it.

Biden's gaffes have increased in frequency over the final year of his presidency.

In December last year, he was captured dozing off during a meeting with leaders of African nations over the Lobito Trans-Africa Corridor. More embarrassingly in the middle of the year, the POTUS referred to Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky as Russian president Vladimir Putin, with whom he is in active conflict.

Internet mocks Joe Biden's latest viral gaffe

Netizens roasted Joe Biden, the oldest sitting president in the history of the United States, for forgetting the name of the birthday boy while singing to wish him. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"This is painful to watch," wrote a user.

"15 days until this national embarrassment finally ends," shared another.

"Man, that was weak and cringe-worthy," jibed a third.

"Looks like a scene from a retirement home," remarked one user.

"Can’t end soon enough," echoed another.

"Someone should have set up the teleprompter. This is creepy and weird," expressed an individual.

"I can’t. Somebody please just wake me when these fools are out of my White House," stated yet another.

"It’s like watching Kamala try and recite the Pledge of Allegiance but different," noted an eighth, referencing Vice President Kamala Harris flubbing the Pledge of Allegiance on the Senate floor on Friday, January 3.
