SEATTLE, WASHINGTON: Billionaire Bill Gates gave his thoughts on what he thinks about Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk’s DOGE shuttering the US Agency for International Development.

During an interview with the Financial Times, the Microsoft co-founder said, "The picture of the world’s richest man killing the world’s poorest children is not a pretty one."

Elon Musk reportedly canceled grants to a hospital in Gaza province, Mozambique, that prevented women from transmitting HIV to their babies, as he thought the US was supplying condoms to the terrorist group Hamas in Gaza, according to the Daily Beast.

Gates told the Financial Times, "I'd love for him to go in and meet the children that have now been infected with HIV because he cut that money."

In February 2025, the SpaceX CEO announced that his cost-cutting initiative, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), was dismantling USAID, the agency responsible for delivering civilian foreign aid and developmental assistance.

Gates said at the time that he was "a little disappointed" by Musk’s efforts. However, Gates recently warned that the sudden cuts have left life-saving food and medicines expiring in warehouses, according to the Financial Times.

Gates made the comments after he announced the plans to accelerate his giving for the next two decades, by spending $200 billion of his foundation money and his fortune, before closing the Gates Foundation completely in 2045.

Notably, President Donald Trump’s administration had said that life-saving programs, such as the distribution of HIV medication, would continue despite the DOGE cuts.

However, in reality, many people have suddenly lost access to their medication, NPR reported.

Elon Musk doesn't regret supporting Donald Trump and working for DOGE

Elon Musk claimed during an interview with Lara Trump that aired on Saturday, May 3, that it was essential for him to support President Trump in the 2024 general election and work as the head of DOGE under his administration to ensure that the US remains "great".

Musk's time as a special government employee is coming to an end, and his time at DOGE has been marked with historic cuts to different government departments, which led to the loss of several jobs and widespread outrage, within the first 100 days of the second Trump administration, per Fox News.

During his appearance on 'My View with Lara Trump' on Fox, the tech billionaire was asked if he had any regret over supporting the POTUS and then working with his administration.

Musk replied, "No. I think it was essential for President Trump to win to ensure that America remained great, and that we reach greater heights."

He slammed the earlier administration under former President Joe Biden and claimed, "If President Trump had not won, I think the Democrat campaign to import vast numbers of illegal voters would have succeeded."

He added that the Democrats were out to turn the US into a "one-party state from which we could never escape."

Musk said, "Some people out there may be somewhat skeptical. They may think, 'Well, there isn't some Democrat plan to subvert democracy and achieve a permanent one-party, deep blue socialist state.' I assure you, the more you research it, the more you will see it is true."
