LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Comedian Bill Maher insisted liberals should "stop obsessing" over the "lies" told by President Donald Trump on the Friday, March 7 episode of his HBO show, 'Real Time'.

The comments came as Maher was discussing the POTUS' address to the joint session of Congress on the night of March 4 with his panel guests on the show. Those joining the 69-year-old for the discussion were former Democratic senator from Montana, Jon Tester, and former Trump White House communications director and 'The View' co-host, Alyssa Farah Griffin.

Bill Maher's opinion on Donald Trump's lies

Bill Maher accused Donald Trump of lying during his speech in Congress but claimed it was not worth obsessing over as it was the norm with the 78-year-old commander-in-chief.

"So Trump said some things that were not exactly true. And when I say not exactly, I mean not at all," said Maher. "And I just think we should talk about that by saying, I don’t want to talk about that."

"Because if you’re a conservative and you see him say many, many things that are not even close to true, you just don’t care anymore. This is so baked in the cake. That is who he is. They do not take him literally or think he needs to be taken literally," he explained.

Noting that it provided the MAGA leader a strong advantage in politics, Maher continued, "And if you’re a liberal watching MSNBC every day, you’re obsessed with this. And you’ve seen all these things where they exposed it."

"I’m bored with that s**t! Okay? This is what he does. It’s– I just take everything with a grain of salt. If he says Zelensky’s approval rating is 4%. It’s 57.2. It’s like, you know, dog years. If somebody. If somebody says the dog is four. Oh, the dog is 28."

He was supported in his opinion by Griffin, who believed that it was pointless to go "line by line through" Trump's speech, as he was not trying to win over more people but to keep his approval rating more or less the same.

Internet trolls Bill Maher

Netizens reacting to Bill Maher's comment on the Mediaite website slammed him for claiming to be bored of calling out Donald Trump's "lies." The following comments demonstrate their takes.

"No, Bill. People who can be made to believe absurdities can be made to commit atrocities. Call the lies out. Every time," wrote a person.

"It’s dangerous to ignore it. As tiresome as it is, it needs to be called out every time," shared another.

"Don't count Trump's lies, count his truths. Much easier, so far we are up to zero," quipped someone else.

"Trump is like the abusive ex-boyfriend that showed up again, and Maher thinks ignoring the behavior will make it ok," mocked one individual.

"Never get tired of calling out the little lies, because at some point the big lie will matter," remarked another.
