WASHINGTON, DC: 'Real Time' host Bill Maher didn’t hold back in his critique of the chaotic White House showdown between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky

Trump erupted after Zelensky challenged his views on Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting at the Oval Office on Friday, February 28.

Bill Maher kicked off the latest episode of 'Real Time' with his reaction to the fiery confrontation between President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and Vice President JD Vance.

He began by joking, "What else is going on? Not much. Nothing comes to mind. Oh, in World War III news, we’re on the other side now."

Maher then provided context on the tense back-and-forth, which ultimately led to Trump asking Zelensky to leave the White House.

The comedian noted, "It devolved into this shouting match, which I’m sure Trump thinks is good TV." He followed that up with his signature humor, dubbing the scene "The Real Housewives of the White House."

Later in the show, Maher was joined by guests Rahm Emanuel, former White House chief of staff and mayor of Chicago, and CNN's Fareed Zakaria, who weighed in on the dramatic encounter.

Zakaria pointed out, "You know, it’s funny, but it’s really tragic to see the president of the United States and the vice president bully, berate, demean, cajole somebody who depends on the United States for its survival," as per The Hollywood Reporter

He continued, "More than that, over the last 100 years the United States, whether it’s supported Britain at the right moment, whether it’s supported the allies in World War I, it was always clear morally, politically whose side we were on."

"We were on the side of the victim of aggression. We were on the side of the democracies. We were against the dictators. We were against the aggressors. And to see this bizarre moral reversion… I mean it was absolutely clear in that listening to Trump, he’s much more comfortable and sympathetic with Vladimir Putin," he added.

Emanuel echoed Zakaria’s concerns, adding, "This will not sit well with the American people. For a long time our foreign policy has been basically internationalist versus isolationist. That’s kind of been the structure. Now, we have a foreign policy of either principles or predatory."

He concluded, "And I don’t think the American people who think of themselves are gonna want to see themselves as we want those minerals for this price, we’re gonna take Greenland for this, we’re gonna take that. That is not where the American people have a self-image and especially not the way it’s being done and conducted this way."

Internet divided over Bill Maher's take on Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky's clash

Netizens were quick to share their thoughts on Bill Maher's remarks on Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky's White House clash as a video of his monologue went viral.

A Facebook user noted, "This is just a disgrace! Vance & Trump are clowns," while another shared, "I thought JD was the aggressor here. The discussion was fine until he became aggressive for no reason. Trump was actually pretty reasonable for most of the conversation."

"Bill is so right about the Democrats. I believe that majority of Democrats are more moderate, but the fringe gets all the airplay," one more expressed.

An individual argued, "I don’t like Trump but I’m with him on this one. We’ve sent billions like we owe them something with nothing in return. Now we’re the bad guy because we want the war to stop instead of just sending more money. Crazy political world we live in."

"Make no mistake, this was a set up and Zelinski walked right into it," a person offered, while another said, "I don't know how people laugh and joke about this insanity anymore. I'm really all joked out and it's just massive anxiety, all of this!"
