LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Bill Maher shared his plan to tone down jokes aimed at President-elect Donald Trump during his interview with CNN host Jake Tapper on Friday, January 10.

Trump is set to be reinstated in the White House for a second term in a few days. His inauguration is scheduled to take place on January 20, Monday.

The comedian and talk show host claimed that Trump has a habit of saying outlandish things and this has made him decide to stop "chasing" Trump down every rabbit hole.

According to Radar Online, Maher has long been a vocal critic of Trump and he had previously shared his concern over the real estate tycoon being reinstated in the Oval Office. He had predicted Trump would lose to Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election but the Republican candidate ended up winning and sweeping all seven battleground states.

How does Bill Maher intend to cover Donald Trump's second term?

During his appearance on Friday's 'The Lead with Jake Tapper,' the host asked Bill Maher what he meant when he stated that Trump was not "going to get his mind" even after getting the top job in the country for the second time.

"I'm not going to chase every rabbit down the hole like I did in (Trump's) first term," replied Maher.

"He's a kooky guy who says a lot of kooky things, and I'm just not going to pre-hate anything. I'm just going to hope for the best, and then when something serious happens, I'll comment on that," he added.

Mentioning Trump's recent comments about purchasing Greenland and making Canada the 51st state of the USA, Maher explained, "That's perfect for comedy, but I'm not going to take it seriously."

Later in the interview, Maher also took a dig at outgoing POTUS Joe Biden, insisting that he could have dropped out of the presidential race earlier to allow Democrats to hold an open primary.

"Some people at 70 act like they are 100 years old, and some are like 40 years old. But this was a case, okay, where Biden was too old," he said.

Internet agrees with Bill Maher's plan to tackle Donald Trump's second term

Netizens commenting on Bill Maher's CNN interview on YouTube majorly agreed with his views.

"He feels like most of us. Tired and checked out," wrote a person.

"Funny, seems we’re all on the same page. Tired of the chaos, craziness, and conflicts. It is what it is. Better to focus on actual news not gossip," shared another.

"Good ethics and sanity, Bill," noted a third.

"Funny, I made the same decision. I'm tuning most of the crazy off this time around," stated one user.

However, one person jibed, "Sitting on the fence is what Bill is good at."
