Bill Maher predicts midterm success for Democrats, saying ‘even they can’t blow it’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A popular media personality and conservative commentator, Bill Maher, who often upsets Democrats with his commentary, might have finally impressed liberals with his latest political prediction.
During his appearance on the latest episode of the Club Random podcast on Monday, June 8, Maher predicted that Democrats are going to make it in the upcoming Midterms later this year.
He further jokingly implied that even Democrats who have a reputation for messing things up for themselves can’t blow it.
Maher predicts Democratic midterm victory
Bill Maher’s midterm prediction favoring Democrats comes after a short-lived truce between Trump and the HBO host, as the President recently called his program a "low-rated show" and labelled him a "highly overrated lightweight" on social media.
Bill Maher, talking to comic Jeff Dunham on Monday, said that he thinks Democrats have elections in their bags, and he also thinks that President Trump is the one to thank.
“The Democrats are going to [win]. They cannot help but win,” Maher said while starting to chuckle. “Even they can’t blow it.” To which Dunham replied with “Really?”
Maher then hit out at Trump over declining popularity: “Oh yeah, Trump is historically unpopular. He’s even getting unpopular more so in his own party, his own base,” Maher said. “They did not like the [Iran] war.”
Maher praises Trump’s restraint on Iran
Maher said he initially backed Trump's effort to take out Iran's supreme leader because he thought it could spark a popular uprising against the regime.
But since that didn't happen, he does not support prolonging the conflict.
He further said that he is happy with Trump’s decision on the Navy blockade and that the President is not wiping out the entire country.
The Real Time host then went on to compliment Trump a few times. Maher said Trump has a “knack” for identifying issues other politicians won’t touch.
While Maher appreciated Trump for identifying illegal immigration as a big problem, he said he went way too far and “f*cked it up” by “siccing” ICE on American cities, which he said was “unconstitutional and way too cruel.”
Notably, Maher’s criticism of Trump’s declining popularity comes after Trump’s recent jab at his show’s alleged low ratings.
The HBO host, known for openly criticizing Trump, recently tried to patch the gap and had dinner with the President. However, the meeting did not lead to a lasting alliance.
