After he mentioned Trump not being killed, a section of the audience burst into laughter, prompting Maher’s scolding.

“Well, let’s get the ugly news about the political violence out of the way first, because we have to talk about it. I’m just going to vomit my take on it, and then you can argue.

I would just like to say, if you’re one of these people, and there’s many in this country who watched that and was disappointed the president wasn’t killed,” Maher remarked, leaving the audience in a huge laugh.

Addressing the laughter from the audience, Maher said, “See, they’re laughing at that! You’re not a good person. Or a smart person."

Bill Maher says Trump 'not Hitler' amid criticism

The left-leaning comedian, who frequently criticizes Trump, did not hold back but said Trump is not as extreme as some critics portray him to be.

"Certainly, Trump has often not been good, decent or kind," Maher said. "But he’s not Hitler!"

Maher also attempted to defend Trump against such comparisons and warned that these labels could have serious consequences, while addressing the roots of political violence.

"If you really believe that he is a Hitler..., then you kind of have to kill him. That’s the mentality they have."

Bill Maher warns on dangers of anti-Trump rhetoric

The comedian also highlighted the danger of charged political rhetoric, such as labelling Trump as Hilter which has become mainstream in recent times.

The comedian also highlighted the danger of charged political rhetoric, such as labeling Trump as Hitler, which has become more common in recent times.

"I remember when the shoe was on the other foot" and liberals were disturbed about violent rhetoric, he said. "The shoe is on the other foot now. I mean it’s on both feet."

Maher further added that believing Trump’s killing would solve current political problems is ‘not smart’ and that the president’s political decline is already underway.

"I don’t think you’re a good person, I wouldn’t want to be the person who thinks that way. Also, it’s just not smart," Maher asserted. "You think that’s gonna solve the problem?... MAGA’s not gonna die!"
