Bobbie Jean Carter found dead in Florida home bathroom, mirroring brother Aaron's tragic discovery
TAMPA, FLORIDA: The Carter family is grieving the loss of another sibling, Bobbie Jean Carter, who was discovered deceased in her bathroom on Saturday, December 23, 2023.
Despite her history of drug abuse, no narcotics were discovered at the scene of the 41-year-old sister of Nick and Aaron Carter.
Her death bears a haunting resemblance to that of her younger brother Aaron, who died in November 2022 from a suspected overdose in his bathtub.
No signs of foul play or drug use
According to TMZ, first responders rushed Bobbie Jean to a nearby hospital after finding her unresponsive in the bathroom of her Tampa, Florida home.
However, she was pronounced dead by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Bobbie Jean was on probation for cocaine possession at the time of her death. However, her roommates informed law enforcement that she had maintained sobriety since her release from prison, as mentioned in the publication.
The sheriff found no drugs or paraphernalia in her bedroom or bathroom, and there were no indications of foul play.
The cause of death is still under investigation, pending toxicology results.
Tragic pattern of death in the Carter family
Bobbie Jean’s death is the third in the Carter family in less than a decade, and the second one involving a bathroom.
Her younger brother Aaron, a former pop star, was found dead in his bathtub in his California home on November 5, 2022, after cops responded to a report of "drowning."
His family claimed he suffered a drug overdose, as coroners found no water in his lungs.
Their older sister Leslie, also a singer, died of a drug overdose in 2012 when she was just 25 years old.
She reportedly had a history of depression and bipolar disorder and was taking medication for both.
Bobbie Jean is survived by her daughter
Bobbie Jean is survived by her eight-year-old daughter Bella, who is now staying with her grandmother Jane Schneck, the mother of Nick and Aaron Carter.
A source from the Carter family told People that Bobbie Jean will be buried in her home state of Florida.
Jane Schneck released a statement to TMZ, expressing her shock and grief over her daughter’s death.
"I am in shock from learning of the sudden death of my daughter, Bobbie Jean; and I will need time to process the terrible reality of this happening for the third time," Jane stated.
"When I am able to think clearly, I’ll release a fuller statement; but until then I would request to be left to grieve in private."
She also asked for prayers for her granddaughter Bella, who has lost both her parents.
She said, "However deeply a parent feels the loss of a child, the suffering of a young child at the loss of a parent must be much greater."
"So, I would ask the sympathetic to say a prayer for my precious eight-year-old granddaughter Bella, who previously lost her father and is now also left without her mother," Jane added.
