Jane Carter expressed shock and sorrow over the loss of her daughter, stating, "I am in shock from learning of the sudden death of my daughter, Bobbie Jean, and I will need time to process the terrible reality of this happening for the third time."

This heartbreaking reference includes Bobbie Jean's death and those of her brothers, Aaron, who passed away at 34 in November 2022, and Leslie Carter, who died at 25 in January 2012.

"When I am able to think clearly, I’ll release a fuller statement, but until then, I would request to be left to grieve in private," she continued.

Jane Carter, grappling with the profound loss, requested privacy for her grieving process, adding concern for Bobbie Jean's eight-year-old daughter, Bella, who has now lost both parents.

Jane added, "However deeply a parent feels the loss of a child, the suffering of a young child at the loss of a parent must be much greater. So, I would ask the sympathetic to say a prayer for my precious eight-year-old granddaughter Bella, who previously lost her father and is now also left without her mother."

While the family believes Bobbie Jean succumbed to cardiac arrest, details leading up to her death remain unclear. Bobbie Jean, leading a mostly private life with her daughter, had previously worked as a wardrobe stylist and makeup artist for Aaron's tours during the early 2000s, contributing to his successful music career.

Reality TV and struggles with substance abuse

Bobbie Jean's life also included a stint on the family's reality television series, 'House of Carters', aired in 2006. The show provided glimpses into the Carter family dynamics, shedding light on Bobbie Jean's battles with addiction and substance abuse, documented on television.

Her struggles extended beyond the screen, as evidenced by her arrest in June for alleged theft and drug possession. The Carter family has faced various challenges, including financial difficulties, divorces, and addiction issues over the years.
