FARMINGDALE, NEW YORK: Donald Trump and his 18-year-old granddaughter, Kai Trump, descended on Bethpage Black on September 26 for day one of the 2025 Ryder Cup, marking another memorable moment in their shared love for golf.

The pair quickly captured attention for their close interaction, with Kai actively engaging the crowd and following her grandfather at every step.

Kai shows devotion and enthusiasm for Trump

Upon their arrival, President Donald Trump was met with loud cheers and chants of "U-S-A" from the Ryder Cup crowd, leading Kai to gesture for them to give a bit more.

Cupping her ear and waving her arms, she encouraged fans to cheer louder for Trump, even as he walked to his seat.

The duo then proceeded to shake a number of hands before finally sitting down, where they were treated to a powerful rendition of the national anthem from Bryan Robinson and a flyover.

What quickly became noticeable, however, was Kai's proximity to her grandfather throughout the event as a constant presence following his every step.

The teenager’s engagement reflected her dedication and growing confidence in public events, with her presence described as both attentive and enthusiastic.

Body language expert weighs in on Trump and Kai's bond

Judi James, a body language expert, noted that Kai Trump appeared like her grandfather’s “apprentice” during the event.

She followed Trump closely, filming him on her phone and watching him with what James described as “happiness and hero-worshipping awe.”

"When Trump worked the crowds, it was Kai standing gazing at his face in what looked like happiness and hero-worshipping awe, and with a watchful stare that had her looking very much like Trump's apprentice as well as his cherished granddaughter."

James added that Kai’s proximity and gestures highlighted her rapid adaptation to public appearances alongside her grandfather.

Donald Trump as Team USA’s mascot

Trump himself seemed aware of the impact of his presence.

James observed that his posture and gestures toward the crowd were “almost Churchillian,” signaling a desire to rally and inspire Team USA.

The former president’s interactions with the crowd, paired with Kai’s active participation, created a dynamic duo effect that drew attention throughout the first day of the Ryder Cup.

A close-knit family bond strengthened by golf

The day’s events illustrated the strength of the relationship between Donald and Kai Trump.

Having already accompanied him to a UFC event earlier in the year, Kai now added the Ryder Cup to her list of shared experiences with her grandfather.

Their mutual love for golf has become a defining feature of their relationship, with Kai’s visible enthusiasm reflecting her personal admiration and the influence of her grandfather’s public persona.

Looking ahead for Kai Trump

As Kai continues to step into public events and pursue her golfing ambitions, her appearances alongside Donald Trump emphasize both her rising profile and their enduring family connection.

Fans and observers eagerly anticipate more moments showcasing the duo’s bond at sporting and public engagements in the future.
