Brandi Glanville reveals she lost 5 teeth amid facial swelling: 'You don't feel good if you can't smile'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Brandi Glanville is sharing her real-life nightmare after battling stress-induced angioedema, a condition that caused her face to swell and left her with the loss of five teeth.
In an exclusive interview with The US Sun, the reality star opened up about the physical and emotional toll the condition took on her, detailing the trauma of losing her teeth. She also revealed the hopeful steps she’s taking to regain her smile as she embarks on a recovery journey to rebuild her teeth, one by one.
Brandi Glanville shares how losing her teeth affected her emotionally
In a candid interview, Brandi Glanville opened up on the emotional toll of losing five teeth, revealing how it affected her appearance and self-confidence.
She explained, "I'm not quite back to normal yet. People keep asking me if I've lost weight, and I haven't, I've actually gained weight, but I've lost teeth, lost five teeth out of my head, so my face has been looking really thin."
Brandi shared how she began her recovery journey, thanks to a helpful connection. "My girlfriend Phaedra [Parks, Real Housewives of Atlanta] was at the dentist, and she was just telling my story to her friend, the dentist, Dr Anj [Rajpal]. Dr Anj just wanted to help. It's the holidays. She's giving me the gift of smiling again, and we're in the process, so I have one new tooth in the back, which I'm so excited about."
She also spoke about her fear of not being able to smile, joking with her son, "You don't feel good if you can't smile and I was joking with my son yesterday, because, you know about the Housewives, I'm like, I'm toothless, not homeless. I'm not the other way around, but I could be homeless very soon if I don't get a job."
Brandi Glanville unveils the cause of her tooth loss
Brandi Glanville then revealed how her stress-induced angioedema had a significant impact on her dental health.
She explained, "When your face swells up and goes down, and swells up again, your teeth shift. I had an old bridge, and unbeknownst to me, there was an infected tooth underneath it."
Despite the challenges, she expressed gratitude for examining her health. "I’m honestly not thankful for having stress-induced angioedema, but if it hadn’t happened, that tooth could have caused a lot more damage than it did," she said.
Brandi went on to explain how the condition affected her dental alignment. "We had to remove the bridge because my teeth were shifting, and that’s when we discovered a broken tooth that had been there for who knows how long." She added, "When we pulled that one, we realized we had to pull two more. So now, I'm missing five teeth."
After Brandi Glanville discussed the impact of her dental issues on her social life, her doctor, Rajpal, stated that fully restoring her smile would take time and effort. Glanville shared, "I have a new therapist, I'm on better medication to help with my depression, so I'm just trying to pivot and, you know, change my outlook, instead of, you know, poor me."
She added with determination, "It's time to make it happen and if no one wants to hire me for a TV, well, not no one, but Warner Brothers, Universal, NBC, Bravo and that's kind of everyone, so if I can't work for them, I'm gonna have to figure out what I can do, because I have a family to support, and it is the holidays, and the savings are close to being depleted."
