QUEPOS, COSTA RICA: The investigation into the tragic death of 14-year-old Miller Gardner, son of retired Yankees star Brett Gardner, has taken a new turn with authorities probing new theories.

This comes after reports confirmed that the teen's death was not caused by asphyxiation. Additionally, it has been revealed that Miller and his family did not have lunch or dinner at the hotel the day before he was found dead.

Miller was staying at the Arenas Del Mar Beachfront & Rainforest Resort in Manuel Antonio with family members when he suddenly fell critically ill. His body was discovered in a hotel room on Friday, March 21.

As the mystery surrounding the tragic death of 14-year-old Miller Gardner, son of Yankees legend Brett Gardner, continues to unfold, a new and devastating twist has emerged, as per DailyMail. Reports suggest that the teen may have had an adverse reaction to medication.

The family initially announced the heartbreaking news on Sunday, revealing that Miller had died after falling ill during a vacation in Costa Rica.

However, new details have surfaced, indicating that Miller's sudden death may have been caused by a potential reaction to medication rather than the initial cause suggested.

Earlier, Judicial Investigation Police (OIJ) had reported that Miller’s death was caused by "asphyxiation due to intoxication related to food poisoning." But investigators have since ruled out asphyxiation, confirming that there was no obstruction in his airway.

Authorities are now exploring the possibility that Miller may have suffered an allergic reaction to medication given to him to treat his illness.

Miller Gardner's family reveals that they didn't dine at resort day before his death

Reports reveal that the entire family began feeling ill after returning to their resort from dinner on Thursday night. Notably, the Gardner family did not eat at their luxury Costa Rican resort for lunch or dinner the day before Miller was found dead.

Instead, they ate at a nearby restaurant after which Miller reportedly fell ill.

Although the family did not dine at the resort where they were staying, the resort confirmed that a licensed doctor was called to handle the emergency. The resort emphasized that its protocol prohibits staff from administering medication to guests.

As the investigation continues, the family is still searching for answers, with an autopsy expected to take two to three months to complete. Police in the nearby town of Quepos are now leading the investigation and have begun questioning resort employees.
