Brian Austin Green says he was 'devastated' when Megan Fox asked for divorce: 'It killed me'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Brian Austin Green is looking back at his breakup with Megan Fox, four years after their divorce.
The couple, who share three children, ended their marriage in 2021 after spending more than a decade together.

Brian Austin Green recalls feeling blindsided by Megan Fox’s 2020 divorce filing
'The Beverly Hills, 90210' actor opened up about the emotional toll the split took on him and shared how he processed the sudden change in their relationship.
“She was a breath of fresh air coming out of what felt like Vietnam to me,” said Brian Austin Green, who was previously engaged to Vanessa Marcil, with whom he shares 21-year-old son Kassius.
“She forced me to laugh again and enjoy life," he said on the 'Oldish' podcast.
Brian, 51, also shared that he felt blindsided when Megan, 38, filed for divorce in 2020. The couple had previously worked through issues in 2015 and even welcomed their youngest son afterward.
“I was devastated,” said Green. “I honestly felt at that point like, ‘We got this.’ We had already been through almost 15 years of a relationship together so I believed it and I think she believed it at the time also," E! News reported.
Brian Austin Green shares how Megan Fox felt she missed out on life
Reflecting on how their relationship started, Brian Austin Green said Megan Fox was only 18 when they began dating, and he believed the early commitment may have caused her to feel she missed out on parts of life.
“It became overwhelming for her,” recalled Green. “But then I think when she realized that, she wanted out quickly, which is then what made it hard for me."
He said, "I understood it, but it didn’t make it any less hard. I get it, I understand—it feels like s**t. It killed me, it was out of nowhere.”

Brian Austin Green, who shares a 2-year-old son, Zane, with fiancee Sharna Burgess, said it was tough watching Megan Fox move on so quickly with Machine Gun Kelly.
“It was a quick moving thing. It went from, ‘Hey we should get a divorce’ to all of a sudden like, ‘Hey my twin flame,’ and ‘I manifested him,’” recalled Green.
“It sucks and it’s really hard and I had moments of jealousy and all the normal things you go through," he revealed.
Speaking about online claims that he had “groomed” Megan, Green said he chose to stay quiet and let time handle the situation. “Time is the only thing that regulates that,” said Green.
