Britney Spears brought shocking allegations against her grandfather in her 2023 memoir

In her tell-all memoir, 'The Woman In Me', which was published in October 2023, Britney made some shocking statements about her grandfather.

She claimed June had his first two wives, including her grandmother Jean, institutionalized.

Jean, who ultimately died by suicide, was allegedly given lithium during her confinement, which the 'Gimme More' singer was also prescribed when she was reportedly struggling mentally.

"Thinking back on the way my father was raised by June and the way I was brought up by him, I had known from the jump that it would be an actual nightmare to have him in charge," further wrote the singer in her memoir, referring to her conservatorship, which lasted till 2021.

Her father, Jamie Spears, obtained a controversial conservatorship over the singer after her supposed mental breakdown in 2008.

Moreover, Britney accused her grandfather of sexually abusing "one of my father’s half-sisters" in her book.

Britney Spears allegedly had a mental breakdown earlier in May

The now-deleted social media post came days after Britney was taken out of Los Angeles' Chateau Marmont hotel following reports of a panic attack. She, however, had only complained of her twisted ankle.

Talking about the May 2 incident to the Daily Mail a source said, "Britney was crying in pain and she called Lynne in Louisiana to tell her what had happened. At the time, Lynne was the only one who knew that she had hurt herself."

The tipster continued, "Lynne asked Britney if she was OK mentally and Britney told her mom that she was fine and it was just her ankle. Lynne called 911 and told them that Britney was having a breakdown and had injured herself. She knew that Britney was in a traumatized state."

Taking to Instagram, Britney blamed her mother, Lynne Spears, for the situation, claiming, "I know my mom was involved !!! I haven't talked to her in 6 months and she called right after it happened before the news being out !!! I was set up just like she did way back when !!! I wish I had grandparents !!! I can't stand her !!! I honestly don't care I will say it."
