Britney Spears' son Jayden shuts down viral rumor claiming the pop star was cloned
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Britney Spears’ son, Jayden James, is shutting down the viral conspiracy theory claiming the pop star was cloned, calling out the spread of online misinformation and urging people not to believe everything they see on social media during a livestream on Friday, July 17.
His comments come as the long-running cloning theory, which first gained attention in 2024, continues to circulate online. They also come after Spears left rehab in late April following a short voluntary stay after her March 4 misdemeanor DUI arrest.

“I hop on TikTok and I see this one video that has 1.2 million likes, and the caption is like, ‘The biggest theory ever: Is Britney Spears still alive?’” Jayden said during the livestream, adding, “Like, bro, you can go to her page and see her right now.”
He also reflected on how quickly false narratives spread online. “It makes me know that a lot of the stuff on media is exaggerated and fake,” he continued.
Jayden further stated, “People know how gullible people are, and they use that to their advantage. Anyone that sees it on media, they just see it and if it has a lot of likes, they [believe] it. They don’t even research it, they’re just, ‘Wow, yeah, it’s crazy. I believe it.’”
Jayden and his brother, Sean Preston, whom Spears shares with ex Kevin Federline, have had a rocky relationship with their mother over the years. For many years, they did not see her, but their relationship appears to have improved.
The brothers reportedly held an intervention for the 'Toxic' singer before she voluntarily entered rehab earlier this year. An insider claimed Spears was “dragging her feet” after checking in following her March 4 DUI arrest until her sons got involved.
“They’re the only ones she listens to, and they were so loving, so kind, but also so firm,” the source shared.
Earlier this month, Jayden and Preston also made their fashion show debuts during Paris Fashion Week.
How Kristin Cavallari fueled the Britney Spears cloning conspiracy
The cloning theory surrounding Spears has been around for at least a couple of years. Back in 2024, 'The Hills' alum Kristin Cavallari discussed the conspiracy during an episode of her 'Let's Be Honest' podcast while admitting she was easily influenced by things she saw online.
“I believe everything,” she told her BFF, Justin Anderson, adding, “Do you want to know my favorite? I believe this, you guys. I wholeheartedly believe what I’m about to say: I think there are clones, OK? And I think Kanye is a clone.”
Cavallari claimed secret societies such as “the Illuminati [and] the cabal … did not like” that West used to call out “a lot of people” publicly.
“He said, ‘If I go away and I come back and I look different, that is not me,'” she said, continuing, “What happened? He was gone. He gone! ‘Member he fell off the face of the Earth for a little while? Look at him. Compare old photos of him. It’s not the same person. It’s not!”
Anderson then asked whether she felt the same way about Spears, prompting Cavallari to respond, “That’s not Britney Spears [on social media]. I’m sorry, it’s not Britney Spears. Go look at photos! That’s not Britney Spears.”
Seemingly realizing the absurdity of her beliefs, Cavallari added, “Don’t cancel me, Hollywood! Let me have my podcast.”
Anderson laughed off her comments, pointing out that he had worked as a hairstylist for Spears' sister, Jamie Lynn Spears.
