Brooke Shields podcast interview criticizing 'too serious' Meghan Markle quietly deleted: 'What a shame!'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Just one week after going live, a podcast episode featuring Brooke Shields critiquing Meghan Markle’s storytelling style has been taken down.
The episode, once available on India Hicks' Substack, now leads to a “page not found” error.
The now-deleted episode featured a conversation between Shields and Hicks, who is King Charles’ goddaughter. Shields had reflected on a March 2024 SXSW panel where she appeared alongside Meghan and journalist Katie Couric.
Brooke Shields says Meghan Markle’s childhood story was 'just too precious'
During the podcast, Shields recalled Meghan Markle sharing a story about writing a letter at age 11 in support of gender equality.
“Katie asks the first question to Meghan and she talks about how at a young age, she was already advocating for women,” Shields said.
“She starts telling a story about how when she was 11 – and she keeps saying, ‘Well, when I was 11, I saw this commercial and they were talking about how washing dishes was for women,’”
Shields continued. “And she said, ‘I didn’t think only women wash dishes. It wasn’t fair. So I wrote to the company.’”
Shields went on to comment, “She kept saying she was 11! She wrote to the company, they changed the text, they changed the commercial."

"It was just too precious, and I was like, they’re not going to want to sit here for 45 minutes and listen to anybody be precious or serious," she said according to Page Six.
Brooke Shields interrupted Meghan Markle during SXSW panel to 'lighten' the moment
Shields said she stepped in during the panel discussion to shift the tone.
“I go, ‘Excuse me, I’m so sorry, I’ve got to interrupt you there for one minute.’ I was trying not to be rude, but I wanted to be funny because it was so serious,” she told Hicks.

She then joked to the audience, “I just want to give everybody here a context as to how we’re different. When I was 11, I was playing a p********e,” referring to her role in the 1978 film 'Pretty Baby'.
According to Shields, the audience reacted enthusiastically. “The place went insane,” she said, adding that the panel became “more relaxed” after her remark.
Netizens blast taking down of Brooke Shields interview with Meghan Markle
The episode’s quiet removal from Hicks’ platform has drawn strong reactions online.
“They got the clicks and attention they wanted. As for Brooke Shields…what a shame!” wrote one user on X.
Another commented, “Really these palm coloured fragility they can’t stand the heat.”
A third posted on Instagram, “Wow, Brooke. I thought you were better than that,” while another added, “Why? Everything Brooke said is true.”
Supporters of Shields also chimed in. “Brooke is an icon. Truth hurts, huh Meg?” said one.
Another user wrote, “So no one can’t express themselves or speak against them but they can put theirs lives out there and expect not to be judged.”
Others took issue with Shields’ choice of joke. “Yet Brooke thought it appropriate to bring up her role as an 11 year old p*****e to lighten the mood...... really...,” one critic remarked.
Meanwhile, a supporter of Markle posted on X, “They will not be allowed to abuse Meghan in peace ever again.”
