NEW YORK: Bruce Springsteen’s fierce political speech on rich and powerful people in America has landed him in controversy, as his billion-dollar fortune rings differently with his scathing speech.

The billionaire rockstar is now facing backlash, as according to Forbes’ March 2026 report, Springsteen stands at number 5 in "The World’s Celebrity Billionaires" list with a net worth of $1.2 billion.

Bruce Springsteen lashes out at Donald Trump for making money

Springsteen blasted rich and powerful people as he addressed an audience. During the speech, he said, "The richest men in America have abandoned the world’s poorest children to death and disease through the dismantling of US aid. This is happening now. We're undermining NATO and the world order that kept us safe and at global peace for 80 years. This is happening now."

Widening his attack, Springsteen also talked about the US’s positioning on neighbouring countries and on a global level.

He said, "We threaten our good neighbors and our allies — Canada, the Netherlands whose sons and daughters have fought alongside of us in American wars with predatory annexation of their lands. This is happening now."

Taking on cultural institutions, Springsteen accused them of whitewashing American history. "Our museums are told to whitewash American history of any unpleasant or inconvenient facts like the full history of the brutality of slavery. If you want to talk about snowflakes, we have a president who can't handle the truth. This is happening now."

Bruce Springsteen takes on government over surging corruption

Widening his attack on the current administration and deteriorating administrative standards, Springsteen accuses the president and his family of enriching themselves while the working class of Americans are struggling.

"While working Americans struggle, our president and his family enrich themselves by billions of dollars trading on the people's office in corruption unmatched in American history. This is happening now."

"The White House, this White House is destroying the American idea and our reputation around the world.

“We are no longer the land of the free and the home of the brave. We are now America, the reckless, unpredictable, predatory, rogue nation. That is this administration's and it will be this president's legacy. And that's happening now,” Springsteen added.

Critics fire back at Bruce Springsteen over moral speech

People were quick to find out the double standards in Springteen’s speech as he lashed out at the rich for money while himself possessing billions.

"Let's see him give his fortune to the poor. He won't. He just gets paid to be an influencer for the socialists on the left," one commenter wrote.

Another said, "Hypocrisy is nothing new in Hollywood! They have no knowledge of the life of the average American!"

One more commented, "Yet I'd bet like most rich liberals he's one of the last people to start donating his money to help the poor! They'd rather force everyone else to do that!"
