Buckingham Palace refutes ‘total nonsense’ claims of Kate Middleton being in coma after surgery
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: Kate Middleton is reportedly been doing well and did not face any issues following her abdominal operation, a palace insider has claimed.
The insider also refused false speculations regarding the 42-year-old royal’s health and called out reports that asserted that Middleton was in a coma after the surgery, PEOPLE reported.
Journalist claimed Kate Middleton was in coma
The palace has to clarify after a journalist named Concha Calleja reported that the Princess of Wales was placed “in an induced coma”.
The Times reported that Calleja stated, "The doctors had to take drastic decisions at that moment because of the complications that arose.”
“The decision was to put her in an induced coma. They had to intubate her,” it further stated citing the reporter.
The report added, “There were serious complications that they didn’t expect because the operation went well, but the postoperative period didn’t go so well.”
Palace insider refutes journalist’s claims
But the palace tipster dismissed all these claims, saying it is “total nonsense".
They added, “No attempt was made by that journalist to fact-check anything that she said with anyone in the household. It’s fundamentally, totally made-up, and I’ll use polite English here: it’s absolutely not the case.”
Kate Middleton’s medical condition kept private
This came after Middleton underwent surgery in mid-Janaury for an undisclosed health issue, following which a statement was released.
Kensington Palace reportedly shared, “The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”
It also noted, “Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share.”
‘Please let her have her privacy’
Meanwhile, the recent false claims and the eventual clarification have attracted some attention online with a person on Facebook saying, “Please let her have her privacy, that she is entitled to. Ultimately, this is no one's business.”
Another person shared, “I love hearing and seeing the royal family. However, it is difficult to believe anything that the royal family says. To me, it’s no different than our own government on how they hoard secrets, BUT I will say her medical info is hers and only hers.”
“Absolutely privacy yes. She is loved by many. I think many are just concerned not prying. Probably would help if there is a quick 10 sec video of “hi, thank you” would put rumors to rest,” the third one added.
