Caitlyn Jenner faces backlash for congratulating Trump on second presidential term: 'You're Bruce again'
WASHINGTON, DC: Caitlyn Jenner’s public congratulations to Donald Trump on his second term as US President has ignited a firestorm of criticism, particularly from LGBTQ+ advocates.
Trump, who was inaugurated on Monday, January 20, has already signed executive orders that many view as a rollback on LGBTQ+ rights, including policies impacting transgender individuals, reported by UNILAD.
Caitlyn Jenner congratulates Donald Trump
Caitlyn Jenner, a long-time Republican and supporter of Trump has previously attended campaign events and endorsed his presidency. However, her alignment with Trump’s administration is being met with concern, given her role as a prominent transgender figure.
Jenner took to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, writing, “Congratulations Mr. President. Thanks be to God!,” in a post that has since amassed almost 50 million views. However, the celebratory tone sparked a wave of critical responses from followers and LGBTQ+ advocates.

Trump’s policies target gender and diversity measures
During his inaugural speech, Trump proclaimed his intention to put an "end the government policy of trying to socially engineer race and gender into every aspect of public and private life."
Trump declared, "We will forge a society that is color blind and merit-based. As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female."
Additionally, he repealed 78 executive orders from the Biden administration that supported racial equity and combated discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
The US government will now adopt the term "sex" instead of "gender," mandating that government-issued identification documents, such as passports and visas, reflect an individual's fixed biological designation as male or female. Trump emphasized that these classifications would be regarded as "unchangeable."
This policy shift includes scaling back the impact of the Supreme Court’s Bostock v. Clayton County ruling, which extended anti-discrimination protections to LGBTQ+ individuals under the Civil Rights Act.

"You’ve spent years showing people you rightfully gained acceptance but didn’t give a toss about anyone else and pulled up the ladder behind you. He has just pulled you back down, smashed your ladder (your rights) and you’re congratulating that? Wow," a user said, while another wrote, "According to Trump, you are a man. Brucezilla is your pronoun. Sure you wanna Thank your God?"
