LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Alyssa Milano, the star of ‘Who’s the Boss?’ and ‘Charmed’, has faced criticism from her social media followers for starting a GoFundMe campaign to help her son’s baseball team to go to Cooperstown.

Many people questioned why the actress, who has a net worth of $10 million, would ask for donations from her fans instead of paying for the trip herself.

Alyssa Milano’s GoFundMe campaign for her son’s baseball team

Milano posted on X, a social media platform, that her son Milo’s baseball team, The Birds 12U, needed money for their Cooperstown trip.

She wrote, “My son’s baseball team is raising money for their Cooperstown trip. Any amount would be so greatly appreciated. You can read more about the team and make a donation.” She also shared a link to the GoFundMe page.

The campaign had a goal of $10,000 and had raised nearly $8,000 at the time of writing.

The GoFundMe page described the team as “diverse, hardworking and really good” and said that the coaches taught them “leadership and life-skills.”

It also said that the donations would cover travel costs, uniforms, and dues for families, as well as “pins or novelty items” for the tournaments.

Internet users slam Alyssa Milano for asking donations

However, many internet users were not impressed by Milano’s request and accused her of being greedy, hypocritical, and out of touch.

Some of the comments on X were, “Bruh you CANT be serious?? if your son wants to be modest because you can easily donate it all, then you ask friends/family - NOT your fans who probably average 50-100k yearly. Shit THEY likely need donations from YOU if anything.”

“You are asking others to pay for your son’s team the wealthy actress? Only suckers would donate to this!,” another user wrote.

“@Alyssa_Milano and her rich friends should either ask the kids to do a fundraiser, earn money at home by doing chores for their families, or pay for the kids’ trips themselves. GoFundMe shouldn’t be her first option. No wonder young people expect everything to be provided," wrote one more X user.

“@Alyssa_Milano how embarrassing! Right up there with @Oprah and co asking those who have not that much for donations! #LiberalHypocrisy,” another stated.

“Alyssa Milano needs our help, guys!!! This is serious!! Let’s dig deep,” wrote another user along with a video mocking the actress.

“Stop begging @Alyssa_Milano. You are a damned millionaire. Pay for your son’s trip yourself," wrote another user.

Milano, who is known for her activism and political views, responded to the negative comments by saying that she had already contributed to her son’s baseball team in other ways.

She wrote on X, "I’m getting media inquiries about whether I have financially contributed to my son’s baseball team. I’ve paid for uniforms for the entire team and coaches, thrown bday parties and sponsor any kid who can’t afford monthly dues."

"The kids also do fundraising themselves—car washes, movie nights, and many other fun things! Thank you to all who have contributed to the gofundme! You’ve made things easier for these boys and their families,” she added.

Some followers also wrote in her support as one X user responded, "It’s unreal, right away, just because you’re an actress, people think you have to fund the entire thing."

"There’s not a damn thing wrong with your doing this. It’s a great example for the kids to see you as Alyssa the mom, not Alyssa the actress. This world is overrun with/Karens!," The actress responded with, "I know. And I would if I could."
