LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A group of Taylor Swift's devoted fans formed a new organization, Swifties for Kamala, on Tuesday afternoon, August 27. Although Taylor Swift has not yet thrown her support behind any presidential candidate, her fanbase is already rallying behind Kamala Harris.

The official launch of Swifties for Kamala kicked off with a dynamic virtual rally, featuring a lineup of guest speakers, including Carole King and Senator Elizabeth Warren.

The event was brimming with Swift-themed references and clever puns, setting the stage for a unique blend of pop culture and politics. Notbaly, the official Pop Base page reports that Swifties have raised over $100,000 for Kamala Harris’ campaign.

Carole King, introduced as the self-styled “original cat lady", began her speech by affectionately referring to Taylor Swift as “my musical and songwriting granddaughter".

In 2021, Swift had honored King by inducting her into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, performing a cover of 'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow' and lauding her as “the greatest songwriter of all time”. In a playful nod to this past tribute, King rapped the chorus of 'Shake It Off' during the call.

King expressed her enthusiasm for Kamala Harris, noting, “I’m excited about Kamala, because so many people are excited about Kamala. I have admired her, the idea that this happened, and the stars lined up, and Joe Biden did a really gracious, hard thing to do, and I’m so proud of him. … But this is about you. This call is about you.”

She urged the approximately 27,000 viewers to support Harris and Tim Walz through volunteering, emphasizing the importance of door knocking and phone banking. “I’ve been a political activist for years. I’ve been a volunteer, I’ve been a door knocker, even as a famous person,” she said.

“I’m telling you all this because if any of you are thinking of volunteering to be door knockers or phone callers, but you’re a little nervous about what you might say, please believe me: there is nothing to lose and everything to gain.”

Elizabeth Warren, the event’s first guest speaker, kicked off the call by declaring 'Karma' and 'All Too Well (10-Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version)' as her top favorite tracks.

She also took a moment to address the fight against Ticketmaster and champion the “Era of the First Woman President,” as viewers in the Swifties for Kamala Discord chat lauded Warren’s efforts and contribution to Harris’ campaign.

“Here’s the deal,” Warren said, “We’ve got 70 days until the election, and I’m just going to be blunt, it is going to be a tough fight ahead. We have lots to do, and Dang, there are only 24 hours in a day, or 144 ‘All Too Well (10 Minute Versions).'”

Other notable speakers included Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Ed Markey, who connected their discussion on climate change with references to Swift’s 'Snow on the Beach'” featuring Lana Del Rey; Representatives Chris Deluzio and Becca Balint; North Carolina Democratic Party Chair Anderson Clayton; and Swifties for Kamala team members Irene Kim, Emerald Medrano, Annie Wu Henry, April Glick Pulito, Emma Coleman, and Lexa Hayes

Swifties for Kamala emerged following President Biden's campaign suspension in July, as the Democratic leadership quickly unified around Harris as the new presumptive nominee. While Taylor Swift has yet to publicly endorse either Harris or Trump, she supported the Biden-Harris ticket in the 2020 election, as per Variety.

“We are not waiting on Taylor to show her support for Kamala Harris,” Swifties for Harris social media manager Rohan Reagan told Cosmopolitan earlier in August. “We are doing this outside of her, using the platform of Swifties as a way to get people involved in the election. Taylor did throw her support toward Joe Biden during the 2020 election, so it is possible that she’ll show her support again. But Swifties for Kamala aren’t waiting for her to do that.”

Internet says 'Swifties run this world'

Following the virtual show of support from Swifties for Kamala Harris, many social media users expressed their backing on X (formerly Twitter).

One fan wrote, "We stand with them."

Another user shared, "Swifties run this world."

The third user said, "This is actually so impressive."

Another claimed, "Ya that’s great but many more needs you swifties. i hope you will help them too."

One individual tweeted, "Sounds like a powerful movement with strong support, very impressive!"
