Elizabeth Warren says Kamala Harris is 'ready to step up' while Joe Biden has a 'big decision to make'
WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass, did not echo a glowing recommendation for President Joe Biden on Saturday, July 20, even though she kept referring to the 81-year-old as "our nominee" and that he had a "big decision to make."
Warren also seemed to support Vice President Kamala Harris as the nominee if Biden resigned, praising her as the most qualified person to lead the Democratic case against former president Donald Trump.
Sen Elizabeth Warren calls Joe Biden a 'transformational president'
"Joe Biden is our nominee, and he has a really big decision to make. Joe Biden has been a transformational president," Elizabeth Warren told MSNBC while heaping praise on his accolades. "I am deeply grateful to Joe Biden for all that he has accomplished."
Sen Elizabeth Warren seemingly backed ex-Speaker Nancy Pelosi who asked Joe Biden to drop out
Despite an increasing number of Democrats urging Joe Biden to withdraw out of concern that he would lose to Donald Trump, the president has consistently stated he intends to continue running.
However, Warren seemed to give Biden yet another escape route earlier this month, sounding like the purportedly cynical former Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
A video of Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY, the far-left congresswoman who has publicly supported Biden, was shown on MSNBC. She stated that there was no "consensus" regarding Harris replacing Biden in the event that the push to remove the president from the ticket is successful.
Sen Elizabeth Warren says VP Kamala Harris is 'ready to step up'
Elizabeth Warren reiterated her response when asked if she had heard Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's version of events, reported Fox News.
"Joe Biden is our nominee. As I said before, he has a really big decision to make," Warren said. "But what gives me a lot of hope right now is that if President Biden decides to step back, we have Vice President Kamala Harris who is ready to step up, to unite the party, to take on Donald Trump, and to win in November. Remember, 80 million people voted for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in 2020."
Sen Elizabeth Warren reveals why VP Kamala Harris would be a promising presidential nominee
Elizabeth Warren cited Kamala Harris' experience as a prosecutor as evidence that she would make a strong opponent for "a convicted felon," alluding to Donald Trump's 34 criminal convictions for last month's falsification of business records.
"No matter what happens, I will be out there fighting for Democrats," she said. "I believe we're going to come together and win in November."
Sen Elizabeth Warren on if VP Kamala Harris should replace Joe Biden
MSNBC host Alicia Menendez, the daughter of Warren's colleague, New Jersey Sen Bob Menendez, who is now a convicted felon himself, asked Elizabeth Warren if Kamala Harris should be the de facto nominee if Joe Biden does drop out.
"Like I said earlier, Joe Biden is our nominee. He has a very big decision to make," Warren said, using the same phrasing for a third time.
"But we are very lucky to have Vice President Kamala Harris β 80 million people voted for her β to step up if she is needed, and I've known Kamala for a long time and I think very highly of Kamala," she added.
"But I want to underscore, Democrats are going to come together. I will be fighting for this ticket and so are many others. We are going to pull together and win in November," the senator added.
Joe Biden is currently recovering from Covid-19
As Joe Biden continues to recuperate from Covid-19, he is compelled to stay in isolation since an increasing number of Democrats publicly urge him to withdraw from the race, seemingly every day.
While he has already secured the nomination, Biden has declared that he is staying put, and his campaign has refuted rumors to the contrary.
Warren's interview came on the heels of Senator Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, Martin Heinrich, D-NM, and Jon Tester, D-Mont, calling for Biden to leave the race this week, joining dozens of House Democrats.
