WASHINGTON DC: Country music superstar Carrie Underwood will perform 'America the Beautiful' at the inauguration ceremony for President-elect Donald Trump.

The event will take place on January 20 in Washington, DC, coinciding with Martin Luther King Jr Day.

Carrie Underwood will be joined by the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club during her performance, according to Axios.

The news was confirmed by a Trump-Vance inaugural committee spokesperson on January 13.

Underwood is set to perform after JD Vance takes his Oath of Office and before Trump is sworn in as president, as reported by Fox News.

Fans are divided over the news and are giving mixed responses, with some fans celebrating the move and others expressing disappointment.

Texas Gov Greg Abbott orders flags raised amid Jimmy Carter's mourning

Meanwhile, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has ordered flags to be raised for Trump’s inauguration, despite the 30-day mourning period following former president Jimmy Carter’s death on December 29.

“Texas continues to mourn with our fellow Americans across the country over the passing of former president Jimmy Carter," Abbott said in a press release on January 13.

"President Carter’s steadfast leadership left a lasting legacy that will be felt for generations to come, " he said as per People.

Acknowledging the incoming administration, Abbott added, "While we honor the service of a former president, we must also celebrate the service of an incoming president and the bright future ahead for the United States of America.”
