LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Carrie Underwood has come under fire for singing legendary late singer Whitney Houston's track.

A recent behind-the-scenes video on ‘American Idol’ showed Carrie Underwood singing Whitney Houston’s ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)’, as reported by Parade.

The clip shared on Underwood’s and the show’s social media pages features the hit song playing in the background as the songwriter sings along.

Several people felt that Underwood singing Houston’s hit would not have been approved by the late icon due to her support for Trump.

Fans ask critics not to ‘always bring up politics’

However, not everyone was against Carrie Underwood, as some fans praised her as well.

A fan commented on Instagram, “It’s been such a pleasure to watch this season with you on it. I was surprised and delighted to see all the praise music and worship songs that have been featured. In this world today, I wasn’t expecting that. Thank you.”

Another fan commented, “She is absolutely beautiful and talented and I’m so happy she is doing this show.”

“She is a lover of all music. I don't know why politics are being brought up. This is a place to escape the noise of the world and celebrate the talent we saw this season. Our champion is someone the world should be proud of. I know 15 year old me seeing my teacher up there. Carrie brought compassion,” a comment read.

A user wrote, “Why do people have to always bring up politics? We all have the right to choose who we are for! And Carrie sings a long with all songs. She's beautiful and a great singer!!! Leave her alone!”
