Carrie Underwood slammed as she appears 'unhappy' after Jamal Roberts won ‘American Idol’ Season 23

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘American Idol’ season 23 ended on Sunday, May 18, with Jamal Roberts becoming the winner. 

However, it was Carrie Underwood's reaction that received a lot of attention online, the Daily Mail reported.

The finale was between three singers—Breanna Nix, John Foster, and Roberts—who all performed with some guest voices like Season 23 mentor Jelly Roll, Jessica Simpson, Salt-N-Pepa, Goo Goo Dolls, Josh Groban, and Patti LaBelle.

At the end of the three-hour show, Roberts was announced the winner of the singing competition, and all three judges — Underwood as well as Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan gave him a standing ovation. 

However, when the winner began singing Anthony Hamilton's ‘Her Heart’ as his last song on the show, the 42-year-old judge took a seat while her fellow judges remained standing. This angered some viewers online.  

Some even pointed out Underwood's "evil" reaction and said that she did not look happy when Roberts was announced as the winner of the show.

Who is Jamal Roberts?

Jamal Roberts from Meridian, Mississippi, was crowned the winner of the latest season of ‘American Idol’.

He is 27 years old and works as an elementary school teacher. He beat Foster after Nix got the fewest number of votes.

Roberts has now become the second Black man to win ‘American Idol’, 22 years after Ruben Studdard won the show in 2003.

"I'm anointed. I know how to use it. I know how to tap in," the winner told Gold Derby on the red carpet following his victory, as per Yahoo.
