NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Cassie Ventura, former partner of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, asked a federal judge to deny the hip-hop executive’s request for bail, citing fears for her safety and that of other victims.

The plea comes after Combs, who was convicted on two of five federal charges, filed a request to be released on a $1 million bond while awaiting sentencing. He has been detained at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center since his September 2024 arrest.

In a letter to US District Judge Arun Subramanian, Cassie Ventura’s attorney, Douglas Wigdor, said his client believes Combs poses “a danger to the victims who testified in this case, including herself, as well as to the community.”

Alongside Cassie’s emotional plea, federal prosecutors also submitted a powerful letter from Denote Nash, a celebrity stylist and close friend of hers who had taken the stand during the trial. In his statement, Nash acknowledged the court’s balanced handling of the case but didn’t hold back in warning of the risks tied to Diddy’s potential release.

“While I appreciate the fairness you have shown throughout this proceeding,” Nash wrote, “I feel compelled to be unequivocal about the danger he poses to the public and to the individuals who have risked everything by coming forward.”

He went on to describe Combs’ history, saying, “Mr Combs has a long, well-documented history of violent, coercive, and retaliatory behavior. Over the years, he has repeatedly escaped meaningful accountability, and each time this has only reinforced his sense of impunity.”

“If he is released now,” he cautioned, “I have no doubt he will see it as yet another license to continue intimidating, threatening, and harming people who challenge or expose him.”

In documents submitted to the court, Sean "Diddy" Combs’ legal team argued that he should be allowed to remain free under strict conditions in a restricted travel zone that includes California, Florida, New York, and New Jersey cosigned by Diddy, his mom, his sister and the mother of his eldest daughter.

Normally, convicted felons face restrictions when it comes to crossing state lines. But in Diddy’s case, his primary residences in Los Angeles and Miami explain some of his travel. The other two states he’s reportedly been to are likely tied to legal obligations, such as meeting with his attorneys or appearing in court.

As part of the proposal, Diddy also agreed to surrender his passport to ease concerns about him being a flight risk. He was willing to undergo regular drug testing and, according to the recommendation letter submitted to the judge, he would follow “all other standard conditions of pretrial supervision” if approved.

His attorneys highlighted that Combs has already spent nearly 10 months in custody and claimed that his sentencing exposure is “relatively low,” signaling that he would not be a flight risk.

The letter read, “Mr Combs has already been incarcerated for 10 months. His sentencing exposure which we fully respect and do not seek to minimize in any way is in fact low, and so is any corresponding risk of flight.”

Federal prosecutors pushed back firmly against the request, urging the judge to keep Diddy in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn as he awaits sentencing. They highlighted the seriousness of the domestic violence offenses his legal team had acknowledged, raising concerns that releasing him could pose a risk of further harm.
